  1. I got a budgie he was cute but when I got him I had him in my room for a while but I couldn't sleep that great because he liked to run around on the bottom of his cage and make all sorts of noise. He also woke me up early. I would go with a budgie or a peachface. After a while the budgie stopped making so much noise at night but he preffered to be in one of the more main parts of the house because he loved people.

  2. Okay, best starter birds are the cockatiel or the budgie. Love Birds I find become very mean if you don't constantly pay attention to them, and if you leave, uh oh, you end up with a mean Love Bird when you come back a week later, not cool.

I own three cockatiels, my males are loud and never shut up. My female is quiet. If you enjoy the singing, get a male cockatiel, and if you don't get a female. Get a cage bigger than 18x18xwhatever, I have huge cages for my three 'tiels (pair in a lager cage, a single in a slightly smaller one).

Budgies are cool pets, I do believe both genders can learn whistles and are VERY good at talking when taught (with love and pacients!) I suggest getting one until you bond with it, and then get a second. Make sure you get a fairly large cage again as big as 18x18xwhatever, and let them out for hours of daily exersize!

DON'T BRING YOUR BIRD OUTSIDE, unless it's wings are clipped. I clip my birds wings pretty d**n short myself; and I clip for other people, too. The only bird that never has his wings clipped short is Chou (my grey 'tiel) because he knows basic re-call outside (it took a long time to do this, and he doesn't even listen half the time...).

If you need anything else, e-mail me. Thanks.

  3. I would say a parakeet or a love bird, love birds are very quiet espessially when one is by itself, if you get a parakeet dont let any windows or doors open when you take him or her out of the cage if you get the parakeet and you get two they get a little noisy but if you scare them or if they dont like something they will screech very loudly, trust me i have two parakeets as pets right now, sometimes their screech lasts up to three minutes! at night be sure to put a blanket or towel over their cage, and dont make it to cold. a love bird is more quiet than a parakeet so if i were you i would get a love bird, their very pretty birds they sometimes make little noises.

                    good luck:]

  4. I worked at a pet store for years and the only 'quiet' bird was the Ringneck Dove.  They are very timid and quiet. The only sound they make is the cooing sound. They are gentle and keep to themselves.

Cover them at night and you will forget they are there. Then that could cause another issue! lol

Check them out they are very sweet

  5. I'm 13, and i'm getting a bird for the first time too. I have spent ALL YEAR researching different types of birds, and I have finally decided on getting a Parrotlet. Parrotlets are pretty quiet, and very small, but don't let that fool you. They act a lot like big parrots, and are known for their stubbornness. But if you train them right, and give them daily attention, they can become very loyal and loving pets. Do your research on them, and you may find they are just right for you!

  6. I have over 100 birds from finches to parrots and that's hard to say because all birds make some kind of noise in the morning and evenings.  So its impossible to get a bird that will "stay quiet".  If looking for a bird that is not so noisy you can go with either 1. finches because they just make a peeping sound.  2. Female canary, only the male sings or 3. Bourkes, elegants and scarlet chested parakeets are quiet and make wonderful hand-tamed pets.  Hope this helped :)

  7. Try to raise this one.If it is just after born, it will think you a mother and follow you anywhere.

But in room only, do not let it fly outside. It will go somewhere.

  8. In your case I would not bother because they all can be noisy.

But if you want a one as a pet then get a Canary, they are not noisy but have a pleasant song, when they do sing,

The least messy would be a Canary.

  9. Most birds make noise, and are messy.  You can help keep a bird quiet by covering its cage, making sure its stress level is low, and giving it enough love and attention.  As for being messy, I've heard that there is such a thing as a net you can buy that goes around the edge of the outside of the cage.  If you get the kind of bird that you can walk around with with it on your shoulder, than wear an old shirt, or a towel around your neck.  The smaller they are, the more often they p**p.  Usually about once every ten minutes.

Birds are usually intelligent, beautiful, and have a lot of personality.  Some can talk and love to cuddle.  They may give a lot of attention and become very attached.

But they can also be loud, moody, messy, and expensive.  If mess and noise are a big concern of yours, I suggest getting a rabbit instead, perhaps a dwarf rabbit if you're looking for something small.

  10. no bird stays quiet, they get very noisy

  11. I would go for the least noisey one being a parakeet. They make noise and sometimes can learn to talk espcially the males. But the noise is nothing compared to a larger bird. I would also cover the cage at night with a blanket to ensure it becomes quite when you want it to. I have had parakeets, Starlings and African Grey Parrots. All birds are wonderful pets but need special care. They must not be exposed to any aeresol products, perfumes, heated Teflon from pans or heaters. Parakeets are cheap and fairly easy to care for and make wonderful companions. Just give it lots of love and attention and toys. Good luck. :)

  12. I hate to be blunt but my answer to your question is a fake bird!

There are no quiet birds. They all chirp, sing, scream......

Although the upside is most birds are quiet at night so you won't have to worry about them keeping you up at night.

I personally think a cockatiel is a good first bird. Budgies (parakeets) are okay but when they bite boy to they bite. Not to say cockatiels don't bite but budgies hurt worse.

    Good luck with your search!
