  3. A divergent plate boundary occurs when two plates move away from each other. It is also called a constructive plate boundary. An example of a landform found in this boundary is a rift valley, a long depression in between two block mountains. When two plates diverge, tensional force is applied on two normal faults. The rocks are pulled apart in opposite directions and the central block is lowered relative to the side blocks.

A divergent plate boundary is where two plates move towards each other or move over each other (different perspective). It is also called a destructive plate boundary as land is destroyed at this area. This is because when two plates collide, the denser plate subducts under the less dense plate. The part of the denser plate that has subducted would melt under the extreme heat of the mantle.

A transform plate boundary is where two plates slide past each other. This is also called a conservative plate boundary because no land is created or destroyed at this part. But at this boundary, the plates grind against each other along a fault line, resulting in a tear fault such as the San Andreas Fault.

  4. Divergent occures when two plates move away from each other
