One fourth of a herd of buffalo was seen in the lake. Three times the square root of that herd had gone to the prairie, and nine times five horses remained at the corral on the ranch. How many buffalo are in the herd?

  1. 1/4x at lake

    3 sq rt x at prairie and

    45 at corral

    there are 100 buffalo in the herd

    1/4 at lake = 25

    3 sq rt 100 = 30 and

    45 at corral = 45

    25+30+45 = 100


  2. 9*5 = 45

    The horses that stayed in the corral made up 1/4th of the herd.

    45*4 = 180 buffalo
