Help ASAP ~ Hazel eyes...? ?

Question

if someone has green eyes close up, but when you have some space between you and them and their eyes are brown. Doesn't that mean they have hazel eyes?

Not neccessarily.

I have hazel eyes, and they don't change by distance, but by color.

For example, If I'm wearing a royal blue shirt, they look exactly royal blue.

But If I'm wearing a green shirt, they look green with yellow specks.

I guess distance could mean their hazel....... but i'm not exactly sure.

According to the military, such eyes are hazel because that's the way my eyes are and that's how they classified my eye color. Of course, that was 20+ years ago...
