Help AT&T representive lied to me when I ordered phone and DSL service?

The AT&T representative told me that I was not going to pay for the DSL modem yet I'm being charged for it. Further, I was told that I was going to pay $40 (or less) for basic phone and DSL all combined. Yet the phone bill is above $150 for the 1st month.

HELP!!

Which agency can help me clear this with AT&T

  1. as for the modem. I was told it would be no charge also. The agent will ONLY answer questions that you ask. I was charged for the modem too, but I got the credit on the next bill.

But I agree, with any service, always ask for a supervisor with complaints. I dont even waste my time now with the agents. Also make sure you get the name/agent number of the person you speak to. That way you have backup if the issue isnt resolved.

  2. Don't go to any agency or other help as a first step. Give AT&T a call. I've had good luck talking to them when there is a billing problem. Most of the time things that are "free" are actually charged to you and then credited. Sometimes the billing cycle is such that the credit doesn't show up till next week. This is just a guess... but seems likely based on my experience.

Give 'em a call and see what's up. $40 seems very cheap for combined phone & internet - kudos to you if you can get it.

  3. I work for the phone company...all u have to do is speak with a supervisor and explain it. If that doesnt work, as for the retention dept...if you have verizon in your area, you should def switch to them!!!
