  1. Hey there!! I'm da same as u!! Well at first I know it's really scary to jump on ice again even if I only wanna do waltz jump. But we never know unless we try. Well, you need to warm up again (ballet warm up) and work off ice (the doubles, singles, etc). Then just try to jump on ice even tho sumtimes we'll fall down, we can just stand up and do it again!

    Gd luck! =]

  2. the best way is to just try some open skates than try lesson and gradually work your way into it.

  3. I stopped skating for awhile too.  Just take it one day at a time.  Not everything will come back right away, just practice.  Almost all of it will come back the more you skate and it will help you get back into shape.  Don't rush and don't get frustrated.  Soon enough it'll probably feel like you never left....or if you're like me, you'll find that you do somethings better now than you did before.  :)

If you can't afford lessons, maybe make some friends at the rink who would be willing to help you out when you have questions.  Or maybe you can work something out with the group lesson program.  Some coaches will give you lessons in "trade" for teaching some of the basic skills skaters.

    Good luck and welcome back!

  4. Go into it slowly! Work off ice on your jumps if you feel you cant do them on ice. Start on ice with just stroking, backwards and forwards. Once you feel safe with that, try to get some spins back. Then when you can do a backspin again, i would start jumping. Start easy, with toe loops and waltz jumps, and build up to loops, flips, lutzs and axels.

As for your condition, if your just coming back to be a recreational skater, it could be a few months before your in shape again. Take it easy in the beginning, but push yourself enough that you get back that endurance.

  5. It's hard -- I'm in the same position, and it's so frustrating to not be able to do what I could!  I suggest going skating frequently.  The more you go, the more you'll improve, and the some of the moves you had will come back.  Your body probably remembers how to do them, but it needs to be re-conditioned.  It'll take a little time, especially for the harder jumps and spins.    If you're a little out of shape, try stretching frequently (even when you can't go to the rink) and lifting some weights, which will improve your body strength and flexibility.  Also, practice things off ice.  That will teach your body the moves before you get to doing it on ice (which can be scary when you're more afraid to fall than you used to be!).
