Our cabin have linoleum floor but the people who owned it before us covered it all with rubber backed carpeting. Even in the bathroom. We want to remove the carpet in the bathroom, but we were told the rubber will be suck to the floor. Is there an easy way to remove the rubber? Not just scraping. Thanks

  1. You can lift up one edge and spray some WD-40 onto the glue. It will help disolve and break the bond. Messy, and you don't want to apply too much. Spray it on, let it sit for 5-10 mins and seehow it goes.

  2. No easy way. If the linoleum was the glue down type you will usually have to scrape it off also.

  3. Much easier to put in new linoleum- the old will never fully recover. Just buy some 40lb felt and make a one piece template, then cut your own- its easy.

  4. No, because when they put the carpet, it is glued down, unless it's done on top of hard-wood floor, then it is stapled, in your case you won't be able to do it without lots of scraping and cleaning.

  5.   Find out if it was loose layed or glued 1 st.. If it was glue then good luck lino will have to be replaced too.. If not just some washing should take it off..There is a possibility that the rubber backing ( being a petroleum product ) will cause a reaction ( harmless to all) and perminatly stain the lino.. That ll depend on the type of lino it is  GL
