Help! Both my dogs have fleas!Please help!?

I have two dogs both i have realised have fleas

they are all on my carpet or on my sofa..everywhere

I have loadsa bites on me

now i have tried a couple of things.

but can somebody tell me what products i can use for me, the carpet and the dogs! xx

You need to get the infestation out of your house before anything will help your dogs.

Vacuum rugs and sofas, throw away the bag.

Wash all bedding, dog bedding and throws on sofas, etc.

Bomb the house with flea bombs (buy them almost anywhere).

If your dogs are infested, take them to vet for a pill, Capstar, that gets all fleas off within the hour.

Give dogs flea bath to get rid of dead and dying fleas left over after the Capstar.

Every single month put Advantix or Frontline Plus on your dogs - nothing cheap or generic, that's a waste of money, doesn't work.

Advantix or Frontline plus will keep fleas, their eggs and larvae off your dogs for a month - also ticks.   Don't ever fail to do this every month - you see what you get if you don't do it.

Good luck, get going - you have to get rid of the fleas in your house, then prevention is the key.

Don't bother wish old wive's tails like Dawn dishwashing liquid, garlic, yeast, etc. --- doesn't work well, you will just get fleas back.   Dogs had fleas for hundreds of years until the topical liquids were invented - go with them.

Don't forget the monthly heartworm med for your dogs, it's cheap enough - you can use a generic for that - and protects them from a killer disease.

Call your vets office, explain the situation.  Go over flea medications with them.  Pick one that is going to work for you, your dogs and your area...  They also have a medication that will kill all fleas on your dogs right now.  You should treat your house also now.  They have products for that also.  Now it's not going to be cheap, by no means.  But it will work.  And once your dogs are on reg. once a month flea and tick meds. you will NEVER have a flea problem again.  NEVER.  That's if you keep treating your dogs every month.  That's what I do and I have two dogs and live way out in the country.  I have never had a flea problem in my house as long as I have had my dogs on a really good flea and tick product from the vets office.  I was on Frontline plus, just switched to Advantix with both dogs.  Should not use Advantix if you have a kitty.  It is worth the money if you can afford it...

Go out and purchase "Flea and Tick" shampoo at your local store (supermarket or Petstore) if you go to PetsMart or Petco at the same time you can pick up Frontline Plus (kills, ticks fleas and flea eggs) don't go cheap and get the cheap stuff it won't help you here.  You can either treat both dogs immediately with Frontline Plus and wait for the fleas to die or you can bathe both dogs and then wait 72 hours before applying frontline plus, it's your choice.

Then, pick up Flea Bombs, and flea powder, flea spray and one flea collar.  Put the flea collar inside the bag of your vacuum so that any fleas vacuumed up will die.  spray the dogs beds and your furniture and carpets.  Sprinkle flea powder and after 30 minutes vacuum up.

Then take the dogs out for 4 hours and set off the Flea Bombs in your house.

If that doesn't work you will need to call in a professional to spray your house.

Be sure to strip your beds and put the bombs in each room.  It's messy and a pain but it's the only thing that'll rid your house entirely of fleas.

Get some Frontline or one of the other monthlys. then get you some flea bombs and set them off, please read instructions, then use your sweeper on carpets,couch, etc. be sure to treat  and wash dog bedding. oh and be sure to empty your vacumm as soon as you get done, get it out of the house.wash your own bedding too.
