The bug has orange on each side of it and black in the middle of its back. With what appears to be many little legs underneath it. Anyone know what it is? It is killing my plants and there are thousands of little babies crawling all over the underneath side and stems of the plant as well but they are very small and semi dark in color. I also have alot of what is possibly p**p droppings as it rubs off and doesn't move lol

  1. sounds like you have Squash bug adolescents, if you start seeing bigger greyish bugs with bottle shaped bodies then those are the adults, they are impossible to get rid of without pesticide and you can't spray that without poisoning your plants so IF it's squash bugs you'll have to spray next spring 2x.  I myself have squash bugs and am trying to starve cthem out, though i'm sad to not have my squash this summer. :(

  2. That is a real problem - I can only suggest that you put 1 teaspoon of lemon juice in a litre of water  and hand spray each of your plants one by one - wipe the  bugs off the leaves with some old clean cloths.  I know this method is labour intensive.

It may or may not work - I hope it does,
