Help! Can't think of a good service project! Good, unique ones?

I'm a girl scout and I'm looking for service projects that would be something that not many people do. I've looked on sites and haven't found the right one yet. I know there are a bunch: helping with a Bible Camp, cleaning up litter, making blankets or other items, food drive, visiting or making cards for the nursing home, painting, gardening.

Anyone that has UNIQUE, GOOD, HELPFUL ideas Please answer. Thank you!

  1. Hello :)

The BEST service project is the one that speaks to your heart the most. Who do you want to help? Children? Animals? Senior citizens?

Then think: what could you do to help them? Could you make something to raise money? Could you raise awareness about their suffering to help prevent something? Could you get local politicians involved to help them?

One little girl in our area loved a local homeless shelter. She also loved to make jewelry. She make a ton of bracelets and sold them -- and gave the money to the homeless shelter! So you see the best service project is one where you are taking your best skills and a project that touches your heart -- and you are putting yourself into motion.

Even doing something small can have a great impact. Remember also that getting your project in the newspaper can get great attention for the cause -- which may inspire people to donate to the cause and will help them even more. So consider letting your local media know about your project, because just letting them know you are helping this cause -- will actually help them even more because it will inspire other people to get involved with them!

Good luck with your project!!!! :)

  2. Go to the Dept of Social Welfare, they might be of help.

  3. Do something to colect funds for your local fire department! Or find a famiy that is in need of items that were lost in a fire (your local city hall might have something)

Help out at a red cross

Colect smoke detectores and hand them out to needy people (we get alot of phone calls for this but dont have the funds to do so. can you tell i work for a fire department.lol)

thats all i can think of for now! good luck
