Help! Can I get out of my lease?

I live in CA, and I just signed a one year lease with this chick, who I just found out is an alcoholic! Is there any way to get out of my lease? Can I legally transfer my lease to someone else?? I can't take it!! I'm afraid she might break my stuff, or worse....make me lose my sanity!

You'll have to check your lease agreement for the answers as the rules are different for every property.  

Sometimes you can break your lease, but there may be a cost involved.  I've also seen agreements that do allow for a transfer, but you'd have to be completely honest and up front with your replacement about why you are departing otherwise you could face legal issues if you hide the alcoholic factor and someone ends up getting hurt.
