Help! Car amp won't stay on...?

Hi all,

I finally got around to putting in an old Kicker amp I have. It's a 352i that has to be 10-12 years old. I got all of the wires run and the amp is just sitting in the back seat for now so I could test it out.

I turned the radio on and viola, green light comes on and we're good to go. Since the power was out to the car, the radio (Sony aftermarket) started on "Tuner." I switched it over to CD and lost power to the amp. I then switched it over to my AUX (Omnifi MP3) and still do not have power to the amp. I check fuses thinking I've blown or have a bad ground. I then switch it back to TUNER and viola, green light is back! I turned the gain up a bit and it sounds great, but now I'm stuck. I hate to have to get behind my HU again as it's a disaster back there, but I get the feeling something isn't right. My remote is connected to the blue wire out of the HU. The Omnifi is hooked up through the same harness (using black, orange (or orange stripe) and possibly something else)

  1. sony sucks

  2. Mine did the exact same thing.  The blue wire is only active when you are listening to the radio. (stupid sony).  So you want to hook it into the accessory wire (the one that makes your head unit turn on).  Obviously you figured this out but this is for anyone who might have the same problem in the future.
