  1. HCl is a strong acid. It completely dissociates (or very, very close to it). HCl(aq) <---> H+(aq) + Cl-(aq)

H+ is synonymous with H3O+, or hydronium.

Actually, [H+] is acidic, or presence of hydronium

    [OH-] is hydroxide base.

  2. HCl is an acidic compound. Because we know that Cl will have negative charge. Cl-

  3. if you look at a alkaline base line going from 0-14 its a base if it is <7 if  its an acid if is >7 7 being neutral

also bases are slippery and bitter

    acids are sour and corrosive

  4. If you have a radish boil it. then use the liquid and let it cool. then you use a coffee strip and put a little liquid on the coffee strip. then you put the substance/compound on the coffee strip. I learned this from my 8th grade teacher. haha.

  5. The SIMPLE way to know for MOST of the acids and bases (with some exceptions) is:

ACIDS: Contain an H before another compound or element.

Ex: HCl, HBr, HNO3, etc...(Hydrochloric acid, Hydrobromic acid, Nitric acid)

    BASES: Contain an OH ...

Ex. KOH, NaOH, Ba(OH)2 etc...(Potassium hydroxide, Sodium hydroxide, Barium hydroxide)

There are many that do not follow the rule. For those, you should familiarize yourself with the list of acids and bases. Here is a great link that I use:
