Ok, so I’m 17 and I want to go to college to be a Doctor (Internal Medicine) (and specialize in Infectious Dieses). How does that this work? Here is my plan...go to a college to study Biology for 2 years to get my associates degree, then go to medical school to be a doctor is this how that works or what? Help!

  1. No, that's not how it works.  You need a 4-year college degree to apply to medical school.  You can major in whatever you want, including biology, as long as you take the pre-med courses (bio, chem, physics, and some math) and get a good score on the MCATs.  Then medical school is another 4 years, followed by a 3-year (at the minimum) residency.
