Help Communication Error?

okay so i have this camera it's finepixZ and FUJIFILM (i'm not sure if that helps) but when i conect it to my computer through the usb cable it doesn't work.Is there any reason why??If there is please help me!! oh and can you make sure your answer doesn't say something like oh go and get your pictures onto a cd or something!!!
