Recently i went to Ma dance camp. =] But i figured out that i have alot of trouble remembering a rountine, Other teams learn the dance fast and get it perfectly while in the other hand i tend to freeze and forget steps. Can you give me some good pointers on how to remember.

In the dance camp we learn two dances a day. The style varies from Pom, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-Hop,Military..etc.

  1. when learning a new part or a new move, make sure you REALLY know it before you move on to another part !

  2. ask your teacher for the song names and just practice them at home before you go to bed each night. i promise you they well be better.

  3. Ask for the dance song, what they are called. And you can practice them at home. That will help you alot. And if you just started dancing or not that long ago. You will start to get them down easier as you dance longer.

  4. o i know tell me about it i went to a uda camp a couple of weeks ago and it was intense i am good at remembering things but it took time to get good at it you just have to keep doing dances and learning them quicker and quicker each time like join dance classes that coreograph a dance for fun and it really helps cuz if i take a jazz class we learn jazz moves and then we do leaps and turns and then the teacher shows us a jazz dance and we learn a differnent dance each time and we learn it faster each time too so you will get used to learning dances and stuff like that just work your memory and take a lot of ballet it doesnt just work your legs and core it works your mind and memorie but determination takes you a long way just keep at it

  5. just listen to the songs and do it physically and mentally b4 u go to bed and also you can listen for specific points in the music that go with a certain movement

  6. I understand completely I just got back from UDA (universal dance association) Camp and we learn three dances in three and a half days depending on level and style etc. what I did was learn the routine and write down troublesome parts that i couldn't remember like 'remember after blah blah its the arabesque etc' and then i would go over each eight count by counts then try it with music til i had it perfectly then go on to the next eight count...its really time consuming but its worth it because the dance is practically branded into your memory-just remember to ask your instructors questions = )

  7. girl you gots to get in the front! Maybe one day get ur teachers permission to video the dances! when you get home Watch the video over and over and over again. Then practice along with the dvd!

    Good luck!
