  1. Sounds delish. I am going to bake a cake right now.

  2. Use the paste food coloring, not the liquid.  The best way to get your color exact is to add a little at a time using a toothpick.  Mix it up and then decide if you need more.  Use a clean toothpick each time you dip into the coloring container to keep the colors pure.  Keep in mind that you can always add more color, but you can't take it out if you add too much.

As for the black...  I suggest starting with chocolate buttercream frosting.  Too much black food coloring can make the frosting taste funny.  If you start with chocolate, it's already kind of dark, so you'll need to add less coloring.

  3. You can purchase black food colouring from Wilton's they also carry the hot pink ,the mixing or adding is done by practise you are the only one that will know when you have reached the colour that you wish , I have always used their food colouring when making Icing , I find that the darker the icing the bitter it gets so perhaps you should limit the dark colours . You can make a small sample to try it out and taste it if you like it you cover the entire cake if now just do little decorations with it .

I will try to find what I use and I will send to you the chart .

    You are in luck !

they have also a spray that you can apply to any icing in a variety of colours  including black and hot pink , so I would go with that.
