Okay, so I went on my computer today and I saw what I thought was a pop-up telling my had spyware on my computer (picture below).

I tried exiting out of it but it wouldn't let me, I think it's part of the desktop background but I don't how the h*ll that got there.

So I went to control panel to try and change it but it seems to me like some of the tabs are missing! (picture below)

I have McAfee Security Center so I'm gonna run it right now...

I wanted to know if any of you've run into a similair problem or think it's a virus..or whatever. I'm not really technology savvy! Please help.

  1. If all of the above doesn't work, try

      smitfraudfix

This free tool helped me several times removing this kind of malware.

  2. yes i think you have a virus

    most likey spyware or maloware

    so go to www.avast.com

    regester there

then download there free home tile

and then after installing it itll ask if you want a boot skan and say yes

then itll restart and start skaning

if it pops up with a virus

    click move all to chest

if it wont let you delete it

    hope this helps

  3. I saw that exact same display properties on a friends comp the other day.  I am curriouse to.  I hope this question gets some responses and to change a background without that go to a picture you want and right click on it then go to the option that says set as desktop background,  And DC windows still is better because macs and linuxe have huge compadibilty issues plus no security on either because there are very few viruses.  Which can become a problem especially with all the vonurabilities in sufarie.

  4. Use Trend Micro's FREE online virus scanner http://housecall.trendmicro.com it will clean your PC for you

  5. www.superantispyware.com

    run a full scan

  6. you can also download yahoo toolbar and use the antispy app that is good for erasing that rubbish it also might save you a lot of time if you just reformat and install windows xp again as you will spend a lot of time trying to get rid of the problem as it has alterd your control panal

  7. Yes you do maybe some trojans and such. for one you should erase "lime wire" that is nothing but viruses and trojans second try ad aware and some other programs because even if you have mcafee/norton anti virus they don't always detect them. if worst comes to worst just reboot your computer

  8. Download spybot search and destroy scan PC and remove infection. Problem solved.

  9. lawl.. i know how it feels.... just mine was heeps worster...

like they fully disabled most of my stuff... and keep poping up their website every min... like some virse protector... it's ironic how they made virses to advertise there virse protection ad....

i forgot how i did it.. but it's probly best if u used system restore point..

"start", "programs", "asses~" "system tools" "system restore" .. and chose a possable date.. =D hope i've helped..

  10. Yes, you definitely do have a virus. Try downloading and running Adaware, too.

I enjoy not having your problem anymore. Windows has over 180,000 new viruses every year. Mac has 0. Linux has 0.

  11. k i know exactly what to do. run the yahoo spyware scan... that should pick up a trojan or sumtin... do ur regular spyware scan and see if that picks ne tin up. if wither picks up a problem, try and remove it. if you cant remove the problem, find out where the virus is stored... eg. if its picked up on the  yahoo scan, click the file details button.

for example the location could be

    c/windows/system32/hfidj12.exe

it will be of that format

so anyway wen you find out the location open mcafee security centre and open up the shredder.... it in your tools i tink?? and copy and paste the virus location. the mcafee security will shred the virus and then you can delete it manually. (as in right click the icon and  selecte delete.)

  12. your pc is  infected with rough/fake  antispyware  downlead malwarebytes anti malware from>www.malwarebytes.org install >reboot in safe mode by pressing F8 key run the scan remove the infection reboot again the infection will be gone
