new radiator, new water pump, new thermostat, new fan clutch, new electric fan, new coolant, $5000 spent over a period of 6 mos and still overheating. Christian Bros was $3300+++ in addition to second mechanic. Head gasket is now blown. The electric fan relay was not replaced. Any thoughts????

  1. did they burp the system after changing all that stuff. air bubbles will cause an  engine to overheat quick.

  2. well my guess would be that you just have a clog in your somewhere in your cooling system which sadly means you were probably had on all that stuff....but you can check the fan relay by just idling  it and seeing if it turns on when it starts to get warm

  3. Keep changing parts. You almost have a new truck!. A power flush probably would have fixed it. The thermostat is probably in upside down or something stupid like that. Those are some good mechanics you have there. Where are you, the equator?

  4. well the 5,9 is not a hemi, the 5.7 is,5.9 is a 360,but on the heating problem have you tried having a coolant pressure check ran on it,that's one way to find a leak in the system if it has any place that pressure is escaping from that will find it,i got a hold of one that was doing that and it turned out to be the cooling fan and a small leak in a hose that wasn't even detectable when it was running, and it also had a bad head gasket on it,with all three things going on in one like that its hard to find the problem,if it were me id run  a pressure check on it first thing when you get it back together that might tell you whats going on with it,with a head gasket blown on it that could have been some of the problem all along,id replace that and see if it helped, also have the head checked for cracks a few of those did  develop cracks when they got hot.good luck.
