  1. make sure breaker is off to socket-take pliers and pull it out-odds are it burnt the wall socket too-please get someone that knows what they are doing to make sure it isnt fire hazard

  2. Turn off the circuit breaker then take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it out.  You will need to replace the plug on the vacuum cleaner also.  There is a good chance you damaged the outlet.  check it carefully and replace it if necessary - all with the power off.  I suspect it is cracked now.

  3. If the plug is stuck way too deeply to get a grip on it, you'll need to replace the outlet.

Otherwise, do you have access to any kind of pliers that have rubber-coated handles?

You actually don't need insulated pliers if you can be absolutely sure you're insulated from ground when you grab the part that's stuck in the outlet, even if it's stuck in the "hot" side.   If you are wearing shoes and standing on a dry floor, and not touching anything conductive except for the pliers, you can grab the plug and pull it out, with or without pliers.

However, if you are still nervous about poking around the outlet with the power on, simply turn off the power to the breaker feeding that outlet, or turn off all the power to the entire house.  (after shutting down your computer if you don't have backup power).

  4. shut off the circuit breaker box - just to be sure, shut the MAIN one off...

then u can use a flashlight, screwdriver, etc. to take the cover off and see what you would need to do..

hahahahaha that sucks!!! pain in the a** if you ask me.
