Question:

Help! Emergency! Guinea pig?

My guinea pig's lip is bleeding! I don't know how it happened but I will tell you some main things that happened when I was playing with him. He washed his face, ate his p**p (he's suppose to), and then my helper came in to play with him, she played as in she checked my guinea's teeth, when she was checking the teeth, there was no blood. After playing with him, I put him back in his cage, he usually bites the bars of his cage, I am not sure if that is why there's blood. I also gave him some vegetables (sprouts, broccili, corn, and carrots). I'm not sure if the carrot's water or juice got stained somewhere around his lip when he was eating. I am bringing him to the vet soon, but the vet place is famous so I have to make an appointment and the appointment is like in 3 days. When I am waiting for the appointment, should I do anything at home? I did not touch or do anything to the bleeding part, I am scared it'll hurt him. I'm not sure if this'll help but it made squealing noises. Pls help

  1. Is there a local animal hospital? You should really bring him there since your vet is "famous"

Just in case even if it is no big deal you should just for his sake.

    hope i helped!

  2. i have a guinea pig too. he may have made his lip bleed with biting on his cage. my guinea pig does that too. the squealing noises all guinea pigs do that it means they want to play or they are having fun playing with you. just try to give him the most care you can give him until he goes to the vet.

  3. get 2 a vetnow stop reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  4. He could of cut it off eating the bars..DONT BE TOO WORRIED! --Just get it to the vet A.S.AP to see wat has happened.

    Dont worry.

    Hope this helped =D

  5. I don't think this is too serious and the bleeding will stop .If it doesn't hold a cloth wrapped piece of ice to it for a few seconds.remove it and apply again.Do this for a few minutes and I'm sure the bleeding will stop soon. If you can see the cut you might want to make sure it's clean by washing it gently with a clean cotton-ball and some cool water. You would probably feel better if a vet looks at it .

the reason this happened is that his front teeth may be too long.Make sure from now on that he has lots of good quality clean Timothy hay every day to wear the teeth down.No alfalfa please! it ultimately give them bladder stones.

    I'm sure he'll be OK.
