I went to US Immigration today and got my Alien Registration # so i can fill out my replacement form.

The lady gave me my A#, and other info such as, POE (Port of Entry), DOE (Date of Entry) and COA (?).

I filled out the form and I'm kinda stuck on some areas, I really want to fill this out properly because I am joining US Air Force, and I really don't want to be delay any longer (green card usualy takes 4-6 months to be processed).

The I-90 form is located here:

I'm just wondering what/where is COA on this form. The lady at the immigration wouldn't give me that info if I didnt have to put it on the forum. She wrote on the piece of paper "COA = IR2"... I looked that up, I couldn't find anything online...

  1. I would guess either City Of Approval or Category Of Approval. I'm thinking more towards Category Of Approval since IR2 means Immediate Relative 2nd preference.

  2. COA means class of admission. IR-2 means Child of a U.S. citizen. Apparently, you have a parent or a step-parent who is a U.S. citizen, and that person petitioned for you. You arrived with an immigrant visa issued based upon that approved petition.

The I-90 does not ask for COA.
