Yesterday was my 8 year olds first day of homeschooling and we absolutely loved it! But then my husband came home with devastating news that many guys were let go at his work and they're cutting his pay. Even though we lived very comfortably he wanted me to work to save money. Now that his check is being cut I defenitley have to work because even b4 we covered all our expenses but were left with hardly nothing to save. What type of work can I possibly do at home and still give my son homestudies! HELP!!!! I know my husband would like for me to send my son back to school and get a fulltime job. He's a very unreasonalble and hardheaded person, how can I make this work?!

  1. My son is home schooled and also in the fourth grade and also my EX husband is a real d!ck about our son being home schooled. I'm on disability, but to help out I babysit. I babysit all shifts and on weekends. It helps out immensely and I am able to still home school my son!

I have one full time four year old 5 days a week, a 10 month old2-4 days a week, another 10 month old that is just weekends only(You can charge a slightly higher rate for weekends!) and a 20 month old part time(2-5 days a week depending on mom's schedule). Put an ad on craiglist! and DON'T OVERCHARGE for childcare. Keep it reasonable, that's how you get business and always ask for cash up front! DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS!!! I have some forms I made up I can e mail you the format if you like.

Good luck mom and I wish you the best!!!

  2. Get a job home schooling some other kids along with your own.

My wife who is a qualified, college-trained teacher once home schooled some Indian kids whose family did not want them exposed to ideas that did not conform to their religion.

  3. I'm guessing you can't hire a Nanny. It would be great if you could, they could teach him and watch him while you're at work.

Here's a good site that pays you online and all you have to do it build a website and everytime someone clicks it you make money. It says you have to make something about dogs but you can choose any animal. You could even make one with your son. Do you have any pets? You could write a diary of it.

There's more sites but heres one.

    Hope this helped!

  4. Babysitting is a good way to earn money and stay home.  You will have to make adjustments to homeschool a child with a baby or toddler underfoot, but homeschool families with more than one child do it all the time!

Another thing, not quite at home, but from home, is house cleaning.  If you advertise to clean houses you can earn $22 to $25 an hour, minus the cost of your cleaning supplies and gas, which is minimal if you stay in your area.  If you could arrange to do this twice a week for about 4 hours each day, you'd bring in around $175-$200 a week, which isn't bad for 8 hours of work.  You would have to arrange for someone to be with your son during these times though, since most people want their house cleaned in the daytime, rather than in the evening.  Of course, you might find an exception to that.

  5. Don't give up!  There are many different ways to earn money from home depending on your skills and abilities.  There are virtual call centers that will allow you to do customer service from home, you could start a daycare or home based business.  Here's a comprehensive guide with ideas for work at home moms:

    Good luck!

  6. Not knowing what your previous line of work is, the only suggestion I can make is childcare. You could find out what the going rate is in your area for different ages (younger than 6, part-time for kindergarten, after-school care) and see what it would take for you to make enough money, if it'll be enough.

Another option is to see where you can cut back on expenses so that you won't need to make money or will only need to make less.

  7. To be honest, there is virtually no work you can do from home that will pull in a full time salary as well as providing you the free time to properly educate your son.  When you think about 5-6 hours needed to do proper schooling and then up to 8 hours to work to pull in a full salary.

Before jumping to conclusions, how about your husband see if he can get a new job and see what unemployment provides...../

  8. Take a look at this site.  sherrysplace.net

She tells you how you can make money online.

  9. Babysitting or Daycare. You can make a bunch of money and still be at home. It will be hard work but worth it. Maybe you can find some older kids that just need afterschool care. That would be ideal!

    Best of Luck!

  10. u could sell avon or mary kay... my mom is gonna be doing that, and she is trying to do an after school program where elementary aged kids would come to our house after me and my sister are done with school.. you could do an after school care program at your house. you would have to get an business license, and come up with stuff for them to do and a fee, it's very doable. and you could still homeschool your son! good luck!
