  1. You don't need to keep your cats out of your house, you just need to frontline them every month.  First thing you need to do is vaccum every wall and corner of your house, every day, this will stop the fleas breeding, then spray some flea killer along all the wall and corners. It will be a nightmare for a while and then it will be ok.

  2. AHH dude that sucks that happened to my friend and he had to tent his whole house... idk

  3. The fleas can ride in on you or come up from the crawl space.

Borax the carpet and furniture, then work it in. Let it sit a bit, then vacuum thouroughly. Then take out the vacuum bag right away.  Don't Borax the kitties. Them you bathe and flea comb then put flea collars on them. Wash all linens. The fleas should disappear shortly.

  4. Don't spray. BAD for you and them.

Go to the vet and get Advantix or Front line.

IT will cost about $40.00 for a 3 dose box

and worth every cent. you open it up and run it down the spinal cord on the back and it will kill all the fleas on them with in a couple days.

and protect them, my house cats I do this every spring.

No host the Fleas will die off.

If you still have a problem 3 days after you treat the cats, then look into RAID. only...

Plan to remove them until it is completely dry, AIR And FLOORS, have the home opened up several hours with fans and windows on.

also all pilot lights have to be out before doing this.

This would be my last resort.

  5. You don't need to do anything in the house.  Use the Frontline as was stated.  In about 1 week all the fleas will be gone.  I used to have a cat that got them from the dog, and the stuff worked on her without me ever treating her.

Right now, my dog has them   I used Frontline 2 days ago, and all but a few are gone.

  6. you do not want to bomb to get rid of the fleas...it is just a contact kill that only kills the exposed fleas.  You want to use an aerosol floor product that contains the insecticide and an insect growth regulator... get them at pet stores or from the vet / groomers office. They are easy to apply and break the fleas life cycle. After a week or so you may have as many fleas as you originally started with due to the ones that were in their cocoons have emerged, at this time a fogger may be useful, one fogger does around 5000-6000 cubic feet.  A room that is 12 feet by 15 feet with an 8 foot high ceiling is 1440 cubic feet so don't use too many in a home and end up blowing it up.

  7. We had a similar situation in a house we lived in temporariliy during a move.  We had little kids crawling around at the time, so it was a bad situation.  Tried lots of non-poison traps, none worked.  Bought the commercial bombs (available at HD, Lowes, WalMart, etc) - just follow the directions as far as placement, quantity, etc. - cover up food & utensils as directed.  It took 3 times to rid our house - the bombs do well against the adult fleas, but not so good on the eggs, so it takes more than once.

Make sure to get your cats treated, too, or it'll start all over again when the cats come back in the house.

    Nasty little critters.

  8. We used a "bomb" in every-other room (1 bomb for every 2 rooms).  We set them off in the morning before we left for work, and we went back in with the dog late that night.  Make sure you wipe down all tables, counter-tops, etc.

We took all of the bed linens, towels, etc. out before we set off the bomb.  We washed everything in hot water with detergent and white vinegar.  Normal amount of detergent, and about 3/4 cup of vinegar per load.

When we returned home, we used the carpet powder that kills fleas and sprinkled it on the carpet and furniture.  Leave it on for 30 minutes, then vacuum it up.  We got the cinnamon scented kind, and it actually made the whole house smell great (and got rid of the bug bomb smell).  You can also sprinkle it on the mattress and vacuum it up before you put the sheets back on.

    I hope this helps.

  9. raid makes a spray that works real good and it is much cheaper than exterminators

  10. Get a product from your Vet called Knock out, 1 aerosal can should treat your entire house.  take the cats to board 1/2 day or so....Meanwhile you are going to be working your butt off.  Vacuum everything in your house, chairs, curtains, sofas, carpets, area rugs, under area rugs...This cause the flea eggs to hatch...Larvae are more susceptible to pesticides than the eggs are.  spray the knockout on everything in your home, especially areas where your pets hang out, your mattress, under your bed, EVERYWHERE.  Leave your house for 2 hours.   When you come back home, revacuum EVERYTHING...this will cause any flea eggs that didn't hatch previously to hatch and jump out ont he knockout and DIE!!.  in another month repeat this whole process and put revolution (for fleas, heartworms, and some intestinal parasites) on your kitty cats so you don't get this problem again

  11. get an exterminator.. they would know better then i would.

    Good Luck!
