Question:

Help For Debate Against Global Warming...?

by  |  earlier

My friend and I have to do a debate in English class.

We drew our topics and positions (negative or affirmative) out of a hat.

We are arguing that global warming isn't happening.

Anything you can think of that could help up would be great.

Such as what they might say, and what we could say back.

Or some statistcs.

Or just anything.

Thanks in advance.

-Mackenzine.

(I posted this yesterday, I'm just seeing if anyone else can help repond to it. Everyone has been a great help to us, and we really appreciate it.)

  1. If it were me, I would argue that global warming has become a politicized issue that polarizes people and turns alot of people away from good old fashioned common sense environmental practices.

Ex: "Global warming is a SCAM, so lets do whatever we want because nothing people do can harm the earth at all!"

    Sad.

  2. well sry to tell u global warmin is happenin...but u cud say that it is being hyped too much the eaths temp does naturally increase  and just a point difference doesnt mean that its GW.ALSO OUR SUN IS 5BILION YRS OLD and it will burn ut in another 5billion yrs the scientists agree dat the sun will steadily start burnin more brightly and strongly until it blows up like a ballon n consumes the 1.2.3 planets .so the increase in temp is a normal phenonmena.by the way dont put d pt. dat mr james j said as wen volcanoes release their co2 n oher emission it DOES affect n kill people animals and plants.also there is a temperature change in the area affected since it isnt just co2 there is a lotof dust which blocks d sun leadin 2  drop in temp

  3. just say anyone who says there's an extreme rise in co2 emission is...er....lying

but than of course, you'd be lying

    http://www.eia.doe.gov/environment.html

say Myanmar, china, indonesia, Katrina and all the other EXTREME natural disasters that has happened in the recent decade is all just a coincidence to the rise of co2 emissions (which creates greenhouse effect....which creates higher rate of precipitation...which creates dramatic hurricanes)

The best you could do is downplay the effects as much as you can twist it.  Say it's only a matter of time before it will drop down to normal rate...or something to that effect

  4. Your introduction of global warming should question the motives of why global warming alarmists would tell lies in the first place.

If you don’t mind me paraphrasing what I wrote in a previous answer, I basically stated the following:

If global warming is natural then there is no real solution that any scientist could possibly come up with to solve it. I stated the following “ I have much skepticism about this, because if they all agreed that global warming is caused by natural occurring events, then their would be no solutions, no carbon taxes, no curtailing of drilling, or anything for that matter. Life could go on unobstructed and many jobs would be forfeit. Global warming sciences would be obsolete, global journalism would be cancelled, and Al Gore would be out of a job.”

Then I would list some of the illicit techniques used by Al Gore in presenting his evidence to captive audiences. He shows two graphs that have recorded temperatures and CO2 concentrations over some time span. He states that its easy to see that by looking at these two graphs that a rise in CO2 caused the temperature to rise. Well that’s not true at all. it’s the opposite. Temperature has caused the CO2 to increase, because Gore neglects to say that the CO2 increases begin 800 after the temperature begins to rise.

This explains what I have been trying to say much better… Its long but well worth watching if your debating global warming.

  5. Its not happening, only un-informed alarmists think it is.

The Earth goes through cycles, tempurature data has only been recorded in the last 100 years.  The Earth goes through 100 year cycles, and 10 year cycles.

These cycles are caused by the sun, solar flares are very common, in a 10 year cycle, every year they get hotter, This year is the last year for this current solar flare cycle.  This is thought to be the hottest cycle for the last 100 years.  during the 100 year cycle, the 10 year cycles also get more intense..  the next 100 year cycle will be the opposite, solar flairs will continue in each 10 year cycle but every ten years it will start over less intense.

CO2 emissions from humans is a joke, one single large volcanic activity will emit more CO2 in one shot than humans will produce in 400 years.  also there is no studies or solid evidence that shows how much CO2 blocks heat from leaving the planet at any rate.  From what we can tell its not effecting the general tempurature at all, the skys are still blue and clear over 99.9% of the landscape.

The artic circle is in fact shrinking, yes, but what people dont seem to add is that the antarctic circle is thickening and increasing in size..   the Arctic circle is only 10% of the planets ice, the southern antarctic circle is 90% of the earths ice mass.

Yes CO2 is rising but its not causing a problem, the key point is that rising CO2 does not contribute to higher temps... it looks bad but again its far from beign dangerous, the planet frequently dumps incomprehesable ammounts of CO2 freqently via volcanic activity and forest fires.  The planet always has been capable of dealing with CO2 spikes.

The head of the weather network  also believes global warming cause by humans is a myth, pretty much every serious credible environmental scientist believe the same thing.

The basic facts: The sun is getting hotter (research solar flare activity) this is causing our hotter tempuratures, this phenom will reverse and the planet will get colder in the next century.

global warming has alot of political fuel, makes alot of people with agendas alot of money, defending global warming doesnt really benifit very many this is why the uninformed idea of global warming caused by humans is running rampent, and the public doesnt know any better.

  6. Maybe this site can help you. It's bringing up most of the common arguments used by the skeptics. It's from the other point of view though, but you might find some useful information anyway.

  7. Uh... you could.... hm....

You could argue that it isn't  a pertinent issue at the moment and say things that are more so?

Also you could argue that "global warming" is just a scary name for something that happens naturally and has in the past.

God I thought I had it bad with the 'support war in vietnam' debate.

  8. Sorry - you will have to lie through your teeth - it is happening and only dumb asses think otherwise. Short straw you drew....sorry

  9. Here are some good sites to research. I am glad your teacher is letting you debate this issue, a lot of teachers are closed minded and just accept the global warming scam as true. Good Luck

  10. ok say this, the Earths climate is always changing and it has always done that without our help. Global warming theory promotes anti development/industrial/capitalism and many doomsday predictions have been predicted before and have failed, like what happened to the ozone layer? what happened to global cooling? What will happen to global warming. those are strong arguements you could use

  11. Assume the topic doesn't distinguish between natural global warming and man-made global warming.  Argue MAN-MADE global warming isn't happening.

The theory of man-made global warming insists man is causing global warming through deforestation and CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels.  Argue the measured, natural warming trend to date perfectly coincides with solar cycle observations.

Since deforestation and Earth's CO2 levels have no effect upon the Sun, the current global warming theory fails to show cause and effect.  The cause of our warming trend must explain the observed correlation between our climate and solar activity.

  12. ruler of heartz, have you ever considered typing like a normal human being?

Volcanic activity will kill people yes, but the earth recovers, and you didnt mention how volcanos are millions of times worse than cars and factories in a 2 day blast....

we are talking about human global warming, not deaths from volcano eruptions.

James J sounds the most logical.

  13. it is easy to prove global warming so i think you only have a problem with the negative side. tell those people that global warming is not real, tell them that is just a heck of a political issue. politicians always argue with global warming so that they can make money out of it.

it will be better if you argue more against the "planned" solutions of global warming because most hyped solutions have more negative effects than positive ones. (like biofuels)

your not quite lucky because it is so easy to prove the phenomenon. tell your teacher to give you some advantages in the debate.
