  1. I'm actually in the process of renewing lol...if you go in person, the process can take UP to 2 weeks. It can be sooner...if you request a rush it might cost extra.

Yes, it can be confusing. Even though they give you an expiry date, your passport is required to be valid for at least 6 months prior to the date of entry into the country you wish to visit.

    NOW THAT SAID...

It most likely will NOT be an issue of serious concern. This solely depends on what the country of entrance requires. Cuba requires that your passport be valid for at least one month beyond the date of your expected departure from the country.

    So you are fine.

BUT, for extra assurance, print out this link and carry it with you in case officials say anything...AND call your local passport office and tell them what you found online at the government site just to be reassured.

Have a great time in Cuba!

  2. Alright, your passport will be valid when it expires. Why would you think you cant go? If it was like that passports would not be valid

  3. Yes your passport must be valid 6 months after your return.

I had the same problem in the past and they didn't let me depart at the airport. So the best you can do is rush to the Official authorities that

issued the passport and ask for an emergency procedure.

I am not familiar with the Canadian procedures, but in some countries a "rush procedure" ( at a higher cost) is possible and can be done in 3 days. Don't waste a minute and contact the authorities.

    Wish you all the best.

  4. Definitely head for your nearest passport office  today and get a new passport as soon as possible

  5. You should check the Cuban Immigration regulations. Check with the travel agent that booked your trip OR the airline you are taking to Cuba. They should have that information available for you to make your travel less stressful. I have also heard about the "6-month" rule but for other countries I have visited and never had the issue during my Cuba visits.
