This window popped up and I thought it was from windows protection system but turns out its some sort of scam, and now I can't get it off my computer, and every time I try to navigate around it pops up and when I try to close it, it closes my windows. I'm currently using spybot, as of this morning, but this other thing says its infected and sign up, pay them now, etc. I can't find it in the remove programs area, a tech from clearwire said its ok to use my system, but I'd like to get it off my comp. I'm not real savy on this kind of thing but really need help.

  1. Go download a trial of Nod32 from http://www.eset.com

    install it

    restart windows and tap f8 as your computer starts up

    select safe mode

    let your computer boot up

    log in

    click yes to continue working in safe mode

    find nod32 in your start menu and run it

    let it run (will probably be an hour or so...)

    should take care of it

  2. Sounds like a trojan. You've got to find the file that's the culprit, preferably in safe mode, where it will most likely not activate. Once you find the file, delete it and any registers and files linked to it. Then reboot windows normally and you SHOULD be fine.

  3. when you start up your computer, disconnect the wire for your internet connection and then run spybot.

    If that doesnt help I'd boot it in safe mode and try again

  4. looks like adware, not a trojan. What I did:

    *download Avast Antivirus, install it, and run a thourogh scan on all drives

    *whenever a virus alert pops up, click move to chest

    *download Spybot: Search and Destroy, run it, same thing.

    Between the two, it should be killed.

  5. virus go to cnet.com and search spy bot S&D
