I live in North Lanarkshire Scotland. I am holding a fundraiser for a wee girl who has a rare disease called Zellweger Syndrome. She cannot be treated in the UK and has to travel to Barcelona every 6 months. I am having an auction and need a relatively good prize. The bigger the better the more people will bid. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to get this. I have wrote letters sent e-mails contacted my local radio station but don't seem to be having any luck. Please Help maybe you work for someone, or have a family member who could donate this prize.

Please Please Please help.......

any suggestions would be much appreciated......

  1. Get a local TV station involved....

contact one of the anchor people personally (usually they have emails on the local tv station website)

tell them your problem (about her disease, how rare it is, how severe it is, etc)  and they would probably want to do a news story on the girl and her dilemma and also your problem to not have enough prizes.

Do it in writing (email or snail letter) because a phone call is so easy to dodge.  A letter there in front of them states the facts and makes them pay more attention.

If they will do a story on her, the prizes should come pouring in.

Just don't forget to send out thank you notes when all is said and done.

    Good luck.

  2. You should try to work it the opposite way. if you can get guaranteed coverage in the media, it will be easier for you to get prizes. Also, instead of setting your eye on one big prize, how about a few smaller ones. A 42-inch LCD would be awesome, but 4 ipods and like  a trip in the country or something could be great (plus if there are more prizes, people tend to bid more - they feel like they have a better chance of winning something).
