Question:

Help Hooking up 3 12inch subs

I getting 3 Kenwood KFC-W3011 subs and they are svc 4 ohm subs can you hook them up to a mono amp? will it work right? I mean i know you can do it dvc subs but not sure if you can do it with svc subs.

  1. If you can find an amp that will run down to 1ohm stable you will be ok.  If you parallel 3 4ohm subs you will present a 1.33ohm load to the amp.  I would not try that on a 2ohm stable amp but you can also get 3 8ohm subs and paralleled you would get a 2.6ohm load that would work, you may not get the full potential out of the amp but you wont burn it out either.  I don't know what the power handling on these speakers is but you can get an amp rated at 600 watts rms or more and you would divide that power evenly between all three subs 200watts per sub for example.  I know you probably know the difference between parallel and series but just in case parallel all the + go to the + terminal and all the - to the - terminal.  series it + to -, + to -  good luck.
