Help! Hoover almost exploded! Is it broken? what happend??

Question

wel i was hooverin the floor when my hoover started making wierd noises and it started to give off like a battrey acid smell, then kinda made a lawn mover grrowl.

So i ran to the plug and pulled it out.

What i do? is it broken?

You'll find that the motor has overheated. This is usually caused by failiure of the carbon brushes on the commutator (rotating part of motor)which is now probably also damaged. best to buy a new cleaner as parts and labour would be costly.

Meowkitt you did the correct thing, You have something stuck in the belt.  Do not try to run your sweeper until you free belt.  It is easy fix.

The belt could have broken and it will need a new one.

The motor may be clapped out.

It could be the filters need renewing.

Have someone who knows what they're doing take a look at it, or treat yourself to a new one. Nothing lasts forever. Sorry.

I would think it is either broken or your neighbour will knock on your door shortly wondering if you have seen her cat.

Hi

       Check to see if anything has jammed the brush head if nothing?whoops its time for recycling,by the time you buy a new motor and have it fitted it will cost more than a new one.

It could be that the bag is so full that the fan that creates the suction is working overtime trying to pull air through and heating up as a consequence. I would try emptying or replacing the bag and make sure its correctly in place. Of course if you've got a bag-less hoover then none of that will work!

mine did that 3 weeks ago, unfortunately you will have to buy another one.
