Help!! How can I block an "unknown caller" on my landline?

There is an "unknown caller" that keeps calling my house. Everyday, even Sundays, and literally just about all hrs, from 6am to 10pm they call. They always either hang up or make some kind of weird request or they try to sell me something. I am fed up!! Lately it has gone from annoying to harassing. Just this morning the number called and when my husband didn't say anything immediately (my kids where sleeping and he was walking down the hallway to get out of their hearing range before he talked) the person on the other end of the line had the nerve to say "stop being stupid, I can hear you breathing". What the?! I am fed up. They call constantly and then get rude when your fed up with them. Please Help! If anyone knows of anyway to block these calls, it would be greatly appreciated.

  1. The service is called Privacy Plus. thru Qwest, all the major telco's have a similar service for a price

You can do a lot with it.  Block certain #'s, block all unknowns

  2. call your telco security department and tell them you are being sexually harassed and the caller has threatened your children.

  3. In the US there's a feature that you can request that is called "Private Caller" or something like that which screens the call - you can have certain approved numbers or callers unknown to you will have to be on hold until you decide if you want to take the call. My SIL finds it very satisfying to use it to deny telemarketers.
