My 4 year old girl has head lice and I've tried every thing to get rid of them from R.I.D. to Tea Tree oil, with no luck, I've sprayed everything down countless times and the house is very clean. I am going crazy trying to get of this stuff, it's like every two to three days it's back, it's a never ending battle. and I'm trying not to shave her head. Dose any one have any ideas?

  1. make sure you are bagging up all her stuffed animals and washing everything in HOT HOT water.

Try and find the source. If it is a child in daycare or something then make sure the school knows so they can take care of it too.

I basically grew up with head lice because we had assigned seating on our school bus and the girl I sat by was crawling with them. My mom could get rid of them With Vinegar and a nit comb for awhile but They would come back if was on the bus..

    Good luck

  2. When my step daughter got head lice, we tried everything. Finally we got rid of it...I mixed pin-sol with water and scrubbed her head,we washed it out and all the live ones came out, then we blowed dry her hair every night for about 2 weeks to kill eggs and always braided it up.

  3. i know exactly what you are going through and it is the hardest thing ever to get rid of.  my daughter caught lice when she was three years old and she has hair down past her waist.  once you use R.I.D, you want to comb through her hair with a lice comb and get as much as you can out (you know the lice bug itself actually pops if you get them between your fingers and pop them, it is really gross but then you know that they are actually dead)  after that i kept baby oil in her hair for about a month because the bugs cannot crawl through the hair because it is so slippery.  so she wouldn't look like she had oily nasty hair i kept it braided which made it look like it was always wet but that did the job.  it is a horrible thing to have to go through, but try that and see if it works for you.  of course along with the things you are already doing like changing bed clothes and cleaning everything like that.  good luck!!!!

  4. When I was younger I had the same problem, the only thing that worked for me was to comb with a lice brush, then put mayonnaise in my hair and before bed wash it out. It sounds nasty but it works really well. hope i helped :)

  5. I would use shampoo with tea tree oil on a regular basis.  Use that as the normal shampoo because it is excellent for getting rid of impurities from the hair.  Wash her hair every two to three days.  Eventually the lice would be gone.  But do your hair also and anybody else who lives in the house.  Sally's Beauty Supply is the only place I can think of that sells this type of shampoo but you can find places online.

  6. I had this terrible problem with my son,No nit lotion was moving the stubborn buggers, until one day when I asked the same question on Yahoo answers and someone told me to use pure TEA TREE OIL every other day,You put half of the bottle in your normal conditioner and leave it in the hair for about 20minutes,then rinse, keep using it for one week, nit combing as well, then once all the nits have gone use once/twice a week to keep them at bay. Trust me this method works well.

    I hope this helps you.

  7. I've not hit the lice stage yet with my kids, but I would call the school or day care if that's applicable.  They need to know, b/c if there are other kids involved it could be coming back from that.  Maybe call the pediatrician's office or a hair dresser around your area and see what they think?  Sorry that's not much help, but you could be getting rid of it yourself and then it comes back b/c of other kids or other people in the household so make sure no one else has it as well.  Good luck

  8. My step mom once combed out my hair with a fine tooth comb dipper in vinegar.  If its extreme the doctor can get her something stronger than RID, or try kerosene.
