Question:

Help! How do I get my daughters father on her birth certificate?

When I had my daughter, I was still married and the baby wasn't my husbands. (I left him, because he was abusive and I couldn't afford a divorce at the time... )

Anyway, I had my daughter and they wouldn't let me put the real father on her birth certificate. They said I had to put my husband's name or leave it blank. I left it blank.

Now that I am divorced from him and now I'm married to her father, how do I get his name on her birth certificate.

*She was born in Maine and now we live in Arizona.

  1. Whew. I'm sorry that I can't help you , but good luck and congratulations on your baby and getting out of an abusive marriage. Your daughter is fortunate to have such a strong and caring mommy.

  2. Idk im guessing go to those city hall places

  3. through the courts.. he might have to adopt her.  a family law attorney would be your best bet.

  4. Talk with the hospital where she was born. Get in touch with the vital statistics division. The birth record is there. Sign afadavids saying that the child is yours' [fathers signiture]. I don't think DNA is a factor, if the father knows the child is his.Apply for a new birth certificate with vital stat..  You might need blood test. Good Luck!
