Question:

Help. How do you root an avocado seed?

I have tried this but do you put the large part in water or the point?

  2. so far good answers but none of them mention ROOT IT. This will start the seed to send out roots. Mix it in with water !!!

  3. Stick 3 tooth pick in it spaced equally around the circumference a bit above the mid-line. Suspend the seed in a glass of water. If it does not rot it will root.

  4. The way my mom does it and it works; she stabs the seed with tooth picks, 4 so it looks like a + around the seed. She then balances the seed on the rim of a glass so the seed sits center at the top of the glass. She pours water until it emerges the seed about halfway. Let it sit and watch it sprout. Do not put it in direct sunlight. Top of the fridge is good because it gives off a little heat. Once the root is established, plant in a deep pot about 11/2 inches deep to 2 inches and cover with saran wrap until you see it sprout with leafs. Keep it in a warm place, expose it as much as you can to sunlight once the leafs come out, don't forget to remove saran wrap.
