  1. Possibly the arid climate.  No food?

  2. Do a Yahoo or a Google search on Zimbabwe and you will see a result that's from the CIA. Trust me, its listed. Read through the report and you will see that there are many factors that contribute to that countries problems. Greed from politicians and the keeping of their people in poverty along with arid conditions, lack of education, import/export imbalances and lack of valuable natural resources all contribute to the economic problems in that country.

  3. Look, Zimbabwe's georgraphic location and what it has or what it doesn't have has nothing to do with its crappy economy. Many of its neighbors like Mozambique and Tanzania are prospering at a slow, but steady rate. It's the corruption that has attacked African nations at an alarming rate. Corruption is why the country has a crappy economy. Its greedy and self-centered leaders want everything for themselves and nothing for the people who put them into office. Rober Mugabe is full of lies and the whole world can see it. I do see hope for that country, but unfortunately hope like that comes when a catastrophy happens. For example, if someone was to decide he would assassinate Mugabe, that would be the only way for the people of the country to be that closer to a more fair and honest government. It has happened before, and it can happen again.

  4. Most of Zimbabwe's economic decline has come strictly from poor politics. Robert Mugabe, the president, has led the country into becoming incredibly corrupt as the inflation rate of the country has sky-rocketed. Also you can mention the black market (illegal trade that is not taxed) has taken over in the villages allowing for no income to reach the Zimbabwean treasury.

About the geography you can mention how only 8% of the country has arable land but 0.33% of the country is used to grow crops permanently. They also suffer from occasional droughts. They are also a landlocked country so they can't export and import materials by sea, so they have to be flown in which is more expensive. Lastly, you can mention how they don't have an abundance in natural resources like oil or diamonds that they can export for a lot of money.
