...or any other dogs really? I have 2 chi's, an 8month old girl & a 10month old boy (entire)?

The girl is ok but the boy will try to take on anything he sees on four legs & a tail! Which has included a german shepard & a labrador! How do I get him to stop this before he gets hurt?

I don't want to get him neutered

  1. well.. neutering dogs is the best thing to do because it saves lifes my dog does that alot because he wants to be ontop of the world. if you dog doesnt see other dogs often that might be the problem.

  2. its the chihuahua they all do that even my 8 month old male and my female that is a yr old does it to. they think they are a bigger dog and they can fight any dog its just the chihuahua thats all and honestly you really can't help it. they are just a little dog and they think they are a big pitbull or rottweiler. its just the breed of the little dogs really and there is nothing you can really do but keep him away from bigger dogs. even if you did get him neutered he would still be like what he is now so it wouldn't change if you did or not. i mean if you think about if your a little dog and a big dogs comes up to you what would you do the same thing that your little male is going its normal all little dogs do it really!

the Chihuahua is the epitome of cocky canine in a petite package

However, some Chihuahuas carry “saucy” and “terrier-like” to extremes and are grumpy, haughty, or downright nasty when provoked – and provocation may come easy.

Chihuahuas have a distinct liking for others of their own breed and an equally distinct dislike for dogs of other breeds. Therefore, if you want more than one dog, make the additional dogs Chihuahuas. And if you already have a dog of another breed, consider carefully before getting a Chihuahua.

i also own a female rottie and if i would bring her up stairs they go nuts but if they are outside they are fine its just when she first comes up stairs. my chihuahua's wouldn't hurt my rottie cause she is a big baby and she think they are her puppies when they are in the yard with her.

  3. sorry i dont have any answers...but i have a girl chihua 6 pounds and she does the exact same thing .....she a pitbull in a minature chi body lol

  4. You need to see a trainer about his behavior - he is dog aggressive. If you want to breed from this dog you need control NOW as the male macho behaviors escalate after they start breeding. If you have an entire female as well he will be trying to assert himself as the 'big man' of the family as well. Remember dogs do not see size, they just see dog!

I would call a professional in for a couple of visits at home as this works better and faster then obedience classes.

  5. Sorry, but neutering is your best choice.  It's a lot less expensive than trying to have him put back together after a bigger dog puts the chomp on him.  Otherwise, you could try some behavioral counseling and some ongoing training classes, to try to get his behavior under control or forever keep him away from other dogs.  His hormones and instincts are in full play here.  You can't just stop him.  He is very apt to get hurt or killed.  One quick shake by a larger dog and he'd be gone.  If you don't like the look of neutered male dogs, there are testicular implants your vet could do.

  6. I have an Amstaf and one day we were taking a walk when the neighbor's Chihuahua got out of the yard and started growling at my dog. My Amstaf looked down at the chihuahua for about 30 seconds than she lifted her left paw off the ground and whacked the other dog in the face.

  7. One of my dashmund bit a lab's ear, because the lab was picking on the other dog.

  8. If you don't want to fix him, take him to training class- some of these little dogs do not know they only weigh a couple pounds-

If you want do this, start an emergency fund for vet care- because some big dog will nail him- also be sure to add to the fund if you are going to breed them- they often need Csections due to their small size- avg about $1,200-$1,500 per litter

  9. The best thing to do is get him neutered, whether you like it or not. Otherwise he'll keep picking fights.

  10. Ha I just imagined a tiny chihuahua barking at a huge german shepard and that's a funny picture... Either get him neutered or get a dog trainer this could result in a huge problem..

  11. Understand that an intact male will be more agressive toward other dogs and people than otherwise.  When you have him outside on his leash, and he misbehaves, turn around and either walk the other way (no matter what poochie wants to do), or take him in and crate him immediately. He needs to associate his misbehavior with consequences, and he needs to understand that you are the pack leader!
