Help! I'm DONE with meat!?

Ok..Peta keeps sending me pamplets with disturbing photos and harassing me with mail..LOL! And I look at it. And I'm done contributing to the torture of animals. Now I can't look at a piece of meat without feeling guilty or getting sick. I'm wondering if someone has any recipes, or knows of some website with recipes for things I can eat. I can't imagine living the rest of my life eating an apple and a bit of lettuce...I want recipes for things that can be considered a MEAL. Simple, inexpensive things I can make that will taste good, but have no animal products. And I know someone is going to say SOY...I've never eaten it...but am willing to try..lol!

If someone can give me a sample of what they eat on a daily basis...what you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner...so I get a better idea. Thanks for ANY help!! :o)

  1. just look online theres a lot of food out there:]

and vegetarian is when you can just not eat meat

vegan is when you can't eat anything that come from an

    animal like milk,cheese,and eggs :]

  2. Right, well, there is more to eat than apples and lettuce when you're a vegetarian. People do often think that at first, but if you look then you will find good food out there to eat.

Like the Quorn range. But they have all sorts like vegetarian Bacon, Sausages, Cottage Pie, Sausage Rolls, Loads of burgers, Lasagne, Meat Balls, Curry, Tikka, Ham, Fillets.. there is so much.

And then there is stuff out of the Quorn range like.. Spaghetti Bolognase, Lasagne, Veggie Burgers, Hot Dog Sausages and lots more.

Also, don't be thinking you can't eat food like everyone else because you can still have chocolate and crisps and pizza- just without the meat on it.

Being a vegetarian is a great thing .

Yes, some people find it really difficult to do.

And at first you may be missing the meaty food that you would normally eat.

But just think about what you're doing for animals and think about meat and surely  you can see that eating meat isn't as important.

I'll give you what I eat on a normal day.

    Breakfast - Toast

Lunch- Quorn Ham Pitta Bread Sandwich, Doritos, Maltesers and Pepsi.

Dinner- Cheese Pizza, Chips and Green Beans.

    Supper- Chocolate and Frijj.

    And lastly,

The difference between Vegetarians and Vegans is...

Vegetarians : Do not eat anything that was a living animal. EG: Pork, Lamb, Beef, Fish and Chicken.

Vegans : (The same as Vegetarians) BUT also..dairy products like eggs (free range or not), milk, cheese, chocolate, sweets.

So if you want to become a Vegan then go ahead because that is very great.

But you don't need to be because a Vegetarian is just as good and very healthy too.

  3. Well, I am a vegetarian, but cant help you with recipes as being an Indian, we eat a lot of spicy food, which you might not like. If you want, ping me, I will give you links for recipes.

Vegan is one who doesn't take any animal products, even Milk and Eggs.

Health-wise, I would say vegetarian is better than Vegan because you'd otherwise miss on many nutrients which Eggs and Milk would provide.

  4. vegitarians dont eat animals but use animal products vegans dont eat animals or use animal products

  5. A vegan is someone who doesn't eat ANYTHING that comes from animals. They don't drink milk because it comes from cows, etc. A vegetarian just doesn't eat meat. I think health wise, a vegan doesn't really get as many nutrients as a vegetarian. Morally, I think vegan is kind of extreme, but it's also not what I would choose.

Or, just type in Google: Vegetarian recipes. There are a TON of websites!

  6. ................  O_O

well i can't help you diet wise but...

i can tell u the difference between vegetarians and vegans...

vegetarians don't eat meat, but they eat meat PRODUCTS (such as eggs, milk, etc.)

vegans on the other hand don't eat any meat or meat products at all!

healthwise id say vegans have it better... they can eat eggs and drink milk but vegans can't? i mean we all need protein you know, it's rly hard to get some essential nutrients for our body if we deprive ourselves of a major source of food... but it can be done i suppose if your willing to try...

morally let me tell you something... there is no such thing as right or wrong in this world (well if your a christian you can become more polarized in matters such as this...). For MOST issues there is no right or wrong, there is no left or right up or down all there is is TRUTH and FACTS and your self-conscious

so your the only one who can decide on a issue like this, it is your life and it is your lifestyle, you are the one who gets to decide on matters such as these, enjoy your freedom.

  7. veggie = not eating meat

vegan = not eating anything from an animal as well as any animal *vegans consider eating/drinking animas prodcue as bad becuase the animals can be treated badley in process*

    morally vegans are better

but health wise consider being a veggie

    http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Everyday-C...

there are loads of veggie cookbooks and they all have really good recipes!

its not boring being a vegetarian! >.< try new things!

    like quorn and tofu =]

  8. For eating vegetarian you shoud try vegetarian fried rice. get cubed shaped carrots, broccoli and peas mixed with rice. cook in pan. or try a bean burrito, or fruit salad or a regular salad. check recipes online. my favorite vegetarian dessert is a frozin banana covered with peanut butter and smothered in nuts like almonds and penuts chopped.

Vegetarians= don't eat fish, meat, beef

Vegans= nothing to do with meat or fish and products made by animals

  9. As a vegan we do not eat meat or anything produced from meat, meaning cheese, eggs, milk etc., some Vegetarians can and do eat eggs, milk and cheese and fish but no organ meats or skins. You have to experiment and see what you like beans are a major part of my diet and grilled mushrooms can taste just like a burger i am told.  grilled vegetables with the same seasonings are meats are tasty.  Being a vegan can be expensive if you are not open to trying new and different and foreign fruits and veggies.  Go to a book store and get a book on vegans or vegetarians cooking.  You need to make sure you get all your vitamins or else you can end up with serious health problems. You can do this by seeing a nutritionists who will tell what vitamins supplements to take and medical doctor to taste your blood levels  to make sure you have no deficiencies.  Boca burgers are great and Morning Star makes soy bacon and sausages that my friends cannot tell the differences but you need to learn how to bake them.  Microwaves are not a vegan's best friend steaming is and stir-fry are great.  I eat veggies and salads for breakfast because I don't know who made the rules about eating traditional breakfast in the morning.

  10. Hi,

I have tried being a vegetarian on and off for years but it becomes difficult for me. I always get a craving for red meat - like a hamburger or steak. I also miss the full feeling I get from eating meat. Personally, I get tired of having to eat more often and grabbing a handful of nuts or slices of cheese is too fattening. The best way for me is to eat mostly vegetarian with some meat so I don't feel guilty when I do eat meat. If you do choose to become a vegan or vegetarian, you need to buy cookbooks or go to some vegetarian sites for information. Getting enough protein and nutrients are always a concern when a change in diet is made.

As far as PETA, you shouldn't become a vegetarian because you feel guilty from the pictures they send you. Changing your life style in any way should come from inside you not something done out of guilt or fear. I have learned that any decision I make out of fear or guilt is never a good choice.

    Good luck to you,

    Jannieg

  11. There are a lot of different kinds of vegetarians... all omitting something different from their diet. Vegans are very strict. We neither eat or use any animal products. Meat, fish, dairy products, honey, wool, leather... none of it. Most will ask "where do you get your protien?" There is protein in a lot more than just meat. Beans and soy are GREAT sources of protein.

My suggestion.... read the book Skinny *****. It's a fun, quick read, and the last thing I read before going Vegan. There are some grocery shopping ideas and a months menu for things you can eat every day. They also have a cookbook called Skinny ***** in the Kitch. Everything is really easy to make.

I also found a great website http://www.theppk.com/ which has some awesome ideas... The scrambled tofu is my favorite breakfast. I even fed it to my 16 year old, non-veg, brother and he loved it!

I promise, going vegan will be the best decision you'll ever make for you health. You won't be confined to a life full of apples and lettuce. There a TONS of options out there that are incredibly tasty that you probably wouldn't have tried otherwise. It has made me look at food completely differently.

    Good luck and have fun!

  12. i personally think that you shouldn't look at the photos because not all of the animals are tortured like that...you can go to the grocery store and they have chicken or just meat stuff but its really vegitables it looks the same and stuff you just have to read the box and its no more expensive than if you were to buy the real thing! you can have cereal for b-fast still or eggs!

vegan is someone who doesn't drink milk or anything from and animal its like vegitarian to extremes...like just because an egg came from an animal they won't eat it! and a vegitarian just doesn't eat meat!

  13. well i saw peta 2 thingys too and that made me become a vegitarian for about 6 months but i couldnt stand it anymore lol  dont let peta make u give up meat if u enjoy eating it then keep eating it!

but wen i was one i ate alot of rice and veggies and salads  in walmart they sell veggie burgers ive never tried one though.

and a vegitarian is someone who doesnt eat meat

and a vegan is someone who eats nothing that came from animals liie meat, eggs, milk,etc....

  14. EAT MORE CHIKIN!!

  15. Tell the freaks at PETA to leave you alone and grab yourself a nice juicy steak.  Keep in mind 99% of what they tell you is BS.  There are cruel people everywhere and just because on a@#hole injured an animal dosent mean that is the standard practice.  They also say that hunters are curel but if it was not for hunters many animals would suffer and starve to death due to loss of habitat.  PETA is a bunch of radical freaks and should be treated as such.

  16. A vegetarian is just sticking to not eating meat.

A vegan is taking it to the extremes and it means that you will not eat anything that contributes to the damage of animals, eggs, and stuff like that.

    :]

  17. I am only addressing your last question, really, because I am not a vegetarian, though there are great vegetarian dishes out there.  Vegans don't any any animal products..no milk, no cheese, no eggs, no meat. Vegetarians still eat eggs, milk, cheese, even though it comes from animals, because animals aren't killed to make it...except cheese, rennet to make cheese actually comes from the stomach of a very young calf that is not old enough to eat grass yet. At least that is they way it used to be made, there could be different methods now, I suppose.  As far as soy goes, check with your doctor before eating this if you are pregnant or get pregnant, because I heard about a study in which male babies whose mom's ate soy had smaller than normal sexual organs...due to the soy has 'hormones' like estrogen in it..very good for women, not so much for developing baby boys.

  18. Here's a small list of veg food.

    http://michaelbluejay.com/veg/eat.html

I'd recommend that you get the definitions from the original founders of the words.

    vegetarian - http://www.vegsoc.org/info/whatis.html

    vegan - http://www.vegansociety.com/newsroom/ind...

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentil, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

    http://www.veganhealth.org/sh

    http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

    http://www.veganhealth.org/articles/b12

It may help you if you see proof that vegan people have the same potential as anyone else.

  19. I used to not eat meat.  It made me sick because I love animals so much.  I still have a hard time with hamburger.  I pick at it.  I cant eat wings because they have veins.  And shrimp veins are nasty too.  I love steak though so I am not a vegetarian.  But when I was a full blown veget. I would only eat vegetables.  All vegetables are good.  Anything you eat has animal fat in it though unless you eat raw veggies.  Good luck, its a tough way to eat.  I get mad at fast food places because they cant understand to leave the meat off anything and I have to make special things for myself than what I feed my family.

  20. Cant really help you on the rest but the difference between vegan and vegetarian is that Vegans dont eat meat, dairy or anything else that comes from an animal. They only eat things grown. Most vegetarians just dont eat meat. Some eat fish and some dont. But yeah vegetarians can eat dairy or anything else if they like.

  21. I eat organic foods, such as veggies, beans, rice, fruits, yogurt milk and fish & chicken. Sometimes (very rarely) I fall off the wagon and have a burger.

If you eat organic foods, they are loaded w/flavor, vitamins & minerals. Beans & rice combo is a "complete protein." Take a multi-vitamin each day.  Surf the net for info and share ideas w/people here. Best wishes on your journeys.

    hope this helps :D

a vegan is a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet.

a vegetarian is a person who does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc.

  25. Breakfast: Cereal + milk(Are you comfortable with milk? If not use soya milk) and a glass of orange juice

Lunch: Roll/Panini/Wrap with cheese etc. + cup of tea/coffee

Dinner: Potatoes, carrots, broccoli, gravy and TVP (TVP: Textured Vegetable Protein) TVP is the vegetarians alternative to Protein and meat

    Supper: Crackers/Rice Cakes/Brown Bread

Vegetarian: Vegetarianism is the practice of a diet that excludes all meat, including poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, and slaughter by-products. The reasons for choosing vegetarianism may be related to morality, religion, culture, ethics, aesthetics, environment, society, economy, politics, taste, or health.

Vegan (Strict Vegetarian): Veganism is a diet and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose. Vegans endeavor not to use or consume animal products of any kind. The most common reasons for becoming a vegan are ethical commitment or moral convictions concerning animal rights, the environment, human health, and spiritual or religious concerns. Of particular concern are the practices involved in factory farming and animal testing, and the intensive use of land and other resources required for animal farming.
