I'm physically fit though. I'm too embaressed to sign up for a team as I'm very self conscious.

Are there any sports that would improve my coordination or any I could try to learn with minimum embaressment? I've done yoga but want to try something a little more active.

  1. How about "walking"?  You can "race walk", do local charity 5K walks; make new friends and it's wonderful exercise.  Next time you pass a track, just get out there and WALK!!!  Godloveya!

  2. If you have good hand-eye coordination, swift on your feet and not over weight, you will find Tennis very enjoyable. It is obviously not a team sport so, you can deal with the self-consciousness.

For that matter, any racquet sport is good for such activity. Try squash, badminton, table tennis.

You must be looking cute I betcha

  3. Swimming is really helpful. If you can't swim it is really good fun to learn. You can go with friends or on your own. The water helps to support you but at the same time offers resistance which helps build stamina. It doesn't matter if you are uncoordinated - unless you want to do synchronised swimming! - but it can help you build up strength and improve movements. If there is a pool near you you'll often find they have gyms there too, which you could join. You could join an all women aquaerobic class that range from young to old and pregnant women too. You can take this at your own pace.

You don't have to be embarrassed, although it can be a bit daunting wearing a costume at first, once you're in the water people can't see you and anyway most people either are enjoying themselves too much to care or are more worried about how they look to worry about you!

    Splish splash - have fun!

  5. Here's some suggestions that might click with you. 1) Softball. Helps bulid good hand eye co-ordination and seems really popular for ladies your age plus the social network seems good. My mum is 55 years old and she still plays. 2)Kung fu. May seem over the top but your co-ordination and timing will improve out of sight plus learning all the self defense moves is very interesting and builds your self confidence and strengthens your mind. Its not full contact and is very interesting. 3)Rowing. O.K the cost might put you back a bit but you don,t need alot of co-ordination, just a smooth stroke plus the benefits of fitness plus being out on the water with the sun in your face is glorious. Hope these give you a starting point and remember, do the sport because you love the sport, not because you have to. Good luck.

  6. Golf, bowling, swimming, Track and field- You can choose your own events and aren't teamed up with anyone.

    Skiing/ Snowboarding- It's done alone

    Badminton singles

    Tennis singles

    Fencing

    Gymnastics

    Cycling

Just a few ideas for you.

  7. Well you can always try volleyball and practice on the beach with your friends. Or you can try basketball, and play with friends on the street or in the drive-way. I personally am a fan of football I'm only going to be a sophmore in highschool and I can't wait for the season to start again. Also i suppose bowling is a sport, skiing, water skiing.
