  1. SAT scores generally only improve by about 100 points from each time you take your SAT's,

  2. figure out which section you are best at and do very well on it.

for example. my best section is math so i studied it and got a 770 in it.

    then a i got a 650 and a 670 and reading and writing respectively.

you just need to do very well in one section and hope that helps nullify the other two which you arent that good at.

  3. I would consider an increase of 120 point to be boosting your SAT score. You really can't expect to go from a 1620 to a 2000 in the course of a few months. You should first realize try to figure out what your realistic limitations are. A student who flunks everything in school and doesnt pay attention can't expect to score a 2400 on the exam. Similarly, you should try to find what your limitation is. My guess is that you didn't study for the first SAT exam and then studied a decent amount for the second. Typically, people who study for their second and third SAT exams don't raise their score as high from the second to third as they did from their first to second. This means that chances are you can only raise your score another 120 points or so, which is still a lot to raise your score.

My advice would be to use online resources, such as collegeboard.com in addition to SAT books with practice tests such as barrons. If you seriously want to raise your score, there are people who will help students prepare for the exam, although this does mean that you have to pay them. Schools sometimes offer courses on SAT prep which usually are either very cheap or free. This could help because a person will be able to tell you what you are doing wrong while an SAT prep book cannot. If you are just interested in boosting your total score, i would try focusing on writing, even though some colleges don't even look at it. An SAT instructor gave me 10 types of sentences they like to use on the writing section and how to answer them correctly. For instance, usually they will list something like: "Jack loves skiing, his boat, and kyaking." Can you pick out the mistake in the sentence? Well the answer is "his boat" is incorrect, because the other 2 things in the list are verbs and therefore it should be that he loves boating. The ten types were simple stuff like that, and i probably saw these examples 7 or 8 times when i took the SAT. Considering there's only like 49 questions on the writing part, that meant that the ten rules, which were easy to learn, covered 17% of the exam, a pretty large portion. If you learn the common mistakes they put in, writing is by far the easiest one to boost your score in.

Hopes this help. I think the best thing to do would be to go to an SAT course or get an SAT instructor, this personalized help can really boost your score.
