  1. Yes, keep to the right, and keep your speed up with the other cars.

  2. dont go beyong 65 mph, and try to avoid going next to big rigs.

make sure u take a experienced driver, it helps alot .

    Good Luck!!!! =)

  3. hahaha awesome.

I was EXACTLY the same way as you when i first got my license 2 years ago.

But get this, in my opinion, driving on the freeway is actually EASIER than driving in streets.

sure, you're driving a lot faster on the freeway, but you get used to it very quick. There are no distractions, except d**n cops. On the streets, there's things like stop lights, stop signs, pedestrians, animals you have to watch out for.

On the freeway, just keep a safe distance between cars, stay in your lane, and don't speed too much (unless you know what you're doing).

  4. Keep your cool and don't panic under any circumstances, that is most important.  Pay attention not only to the car in front of you but all the traffic in front of you, if a car that is 6 cars in front of you jams on his brakes, all the cars that follow will have less distance to stop so be aware of what is happening.  Turn off your phone, or better yet leave it at home, don't fuss with the radio or the air, and make sure all your mirrors are lined up before you even get on the highway.  First and foremost, stay relaxed and focused on driving.

  5. Try to see if someone can ride along with you who is fimiliar with the route you will be going.

Stay in the slow lane (Right Side).  If you are unsure of your abilities, that is a red flag for you possibly causing a traffic accident.

Choose a time in the day when the traffic is going to be less, if that's possible.  It will lessen your anxiety.

    Pray

Go over the route ahead of time if possible, to lessen your anxiety of the unfimiliar.  "really" if you can do this you don't have a problem with the current gas prices.

    Have someone else drive you.

  6. grow a pair.

  7. Best to have another person with you

    Keep to the right

    Don't go during rush hour

Go when there is not that many cars

    Dont hit the brakes hard

Keep ur speed at around 50 then when u get comfortable 60

  8. First of all driving on the highway is EASIER than driving on surface streets. Everyone is going the same direction. There aren't any stoplights. All you gotta do is stay in your lane and drive. With that said there are two tough parts about highway driving. That is getting on and changing lanes.

When getting on the highway make sure you get up to the highway speed(60MPH or so) ON THE RAMP. That will enable you to merge much safer. When going down the ram start scanning for an area to merge into. If there isn't a clear spot DONT PANIC. Just cut on your turn signal and people will(should) let you over.

When you get on the highway don't stay in the far right lane. Go to the lane next to it(if you're on a 3+ lane highway). Most deaths and accidents happen in the left lane(passing lane) and right lane(slow lane). So the safest place to be is in one of the middle lanes.

When you're changing lanes make SURE to check your blind spots. Before you change lanes check your mirror then turn on your indicator(if you have a clear spot) then glance over your shoulder. If nothing is there then go.

Getting off the highway is easy. Just get in the far right lane then exit off.

Also use the far left lane ONLY FOR PASSING. When you're done passing move back over to the right. Most deaths are in that lane because people clog it up and end up running into each other. Also use your turn signals.

[Edit: Oh and another thing, DO NOT DRIVE IN PEOPLES BLIND SPOT. Whenever possible be in a position where if the car in the lane beside you were to swerve into your lane then they wouldn't hit you. That can save your life.]

  9. Yeah, just don't press the brake pedal. When I went on the highway the first time (couple months ago) I was scared shitless, now it's cool, I got used to it. Nothing scary about it, it's just the though of going fast that makes you nervous. Just play it cool.
