  1. they are 5 hours ahead of US time.

  2. It is actually quite easy. I am not sure when you are leaving from Chicago to Paris but you will arrive on the next day. So if you leave Chicago September 1st you will arrive to Paris September 2nd. Paris and Berlin have the same time zone and are only about 2 flight hours apart so if you will always arrive on the same day and you will have the same time zone. When you are coming back to the U.S. you are actually arriving on the same day you leave Frankfurt.

Hint: Time difference is from U.S. mountain time to Germany and France is +7 hours and Pacific time is +9 hours. Therefore, you leave Frankfurt 15:20, in LA it is (15:20 - 9 equals) 06:20 (of the same day) plus 11 hours 45 minutes of flight time equals 18:05 or 06:05 PM of the same day.

    and viceversa

You leave Chicago at 6 PM or 18:00, plus 7 hours 01:00 AM of the next day in Paris. Plus flight time of 8:20 (1:00 + 8:20) equals 09:20 AM of the next day.

    Have a nice flight.

  3. Continental Europe is 5-8 hours ahead of the US depending on what coast you are on.

Why not get a travel watch/clock that will tell you two time zones?

  4. You don't say what day you're leaving LA, but you get in the morning after that. Since you get into Paris at 9:20am and leave on the 2nd at 8:30, from a different airport, you'll have to sleep in Paris in the meantime.

Paris and Berlin are the same time zone (9 hours ahead of LA) so that whole trip takes 5 hours (I would've taken the night train, personally, 11 hours (or 10 if you change trains in Brussels) from the center of town to the center of town--certainly more expensive than Air Berlin but probably less than one night in a hotel plus Air Berlin)

Then your trip home is all one looooooong day.
