Help! I Got A Virus! Is there anything I can do?

I have windows xp media center and i got a virus and now i cant do anything. The computer will start to start up and gets to right before the sign in page and then restarts so i dont know what to do. does anyone have any ideas? anything would be greatly appreciated :-)

Seems like a registry problem. Run your PC on safe mode and run a registry cleaner scan. You can find information and reviews on registry cleaners at the link below.

restart ur pc and press f8 as it boots and go to safe mode then run a virus scan when (if) it boots

In your situation, you may not be able to do much even if you boot up in safe mode.

There are a few options.

1) reformat and reinstall your Windows ( leave it as last resort )

2) take out your hard disk and install as secondary drive in another PC that have a good anti-virus program. Boot up on that PC and scan your infected hard disk.

3) You install CLAMWIN

There is a portable version of ClamWin where it can be install into an USB pendrive as small as 64 MB.

First use another PC to download Clamwin portable anti-virus

Update the latest anti-virus definition files.

Set the preferences to delete or move virus to a quarantine folder.

When the USB pendrive is ready.

Boot up the infected PC in safe mode.

If possible, disable system restore on the infected PC.

Use the USB pendrive with Clamwin Anti-virus installed to scan the infected PC.

Scan all hard drives for viruses.

Like the person above me said reboot it but in safe mode=f8 while loading up keep clicking it..Then run your anti-virus software. Also U may force shutdown by holing down the power button 4 10 seconds and then start it back up and just click safe mode. U may not use your mouse 2 click, u have 2 use the directional buttons, and enter 2 select.   :p
