  1. Welcome to the club. I am a young 67 and I don't have bi polar, but I have become diabetic, at least the diet manageable stage.I do the blood strips, and more often than not go a little over 140 which is what my dr, allows.I never get hungry to the point of it being a problem. I fix meals that are low or no sugar, I cook with splenda, which is the best sugar replacement.I also use a broth like lazy sue, and boil vegetables with cut up low fat browned stew meat, or other lean meats.and do stir fries with chicken. The key is to lose weight, I have taken off almost 40 pounds in 1 year, and my bp is 113 over 67.I also eat a whole wheat cereal with low fat milk. On occasion I have peanut butter and low sugar jelly sandwiches. I do cheat with a jelly gooey long john, but only to satisfy the need, on rare occasions. If you want to live a productive life and enjoy your remaining years, only you can make the difference. Do things in small steps. For breakfast, do a bowl of cereal.,and drink a lot of coffee.buy diet lipton green tea, tastes good when you get used to it.Keep crackers, the golden rounds or other and use 'I can't believe its not butter",butter substituteEat lots of vegetables. Fill your mouth with new taste sensations and you will get used to it.I like little hot peppers, olives. dill(only) pickels, onions, sliced(I need a salt substitute)water melon, see, there are many ways to change to healthy but you have to want it. I just got my first great grandchild with one more on the way. I want great-great grandkids before I go.ask yourself, what do you want?

  2. My HbA1C was 12.1, Nov. 26 with a daily finger prick reading of 600+ (meter topped out at 600). Today my HbA1C is 5.5 with a daily finger prick reading of 105/80. I am 59 or 14 depending on my mood. I am not bi polar, but it did enjoy Acid reflux, poor sleep, and the other normal diabetic joys. No longer. I try my best to live a healthier life style, but I am not angel.

I have found that restful sleep contributes a lot to improving one's heath. I consider sleep a strong contributor to controlling glucose level and my overall out look on life. I do exercise daily, walking 4 mile to work each day and eating smarter. I do take a natural diet supplement which has helped gain the restful sleep I found I need. I burn the candle at both ends and get about 5 hour sleep an night. I will share the information on the diet supplement if you are interested, email me.
