  1. You'll save money if you order the parts online and build it yourself or have a tech-savvy friend do it for you.

I'm basing these prices off Newegg which are some of the best on the internet.

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53GHz 3MB L2 Cache $120

    Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Pro Intel P45  $140

    RAM: OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 $50 - $30 rebate = $20

    Video Card: ASUS Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E  $183 - $30 rebate = $153

Case + Power Supply: Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case + Antec Neo Power 550W combo  $150

    SATA DVD Burner ~$30

    500GB SATA Hard Drive 7200RPM 16MB Cache $80

Total = $753 (before rebates) + tax (only in certain states) + shipping

    $693 after rebates.

Throw in another $35 to get a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 aftermarket CPU cooler if you want to overclock to get more bang for your buck.

With the Radeon HD 4850, all the games you play will run silky smooth. The C2D E7200 has a lot of overclocking potential (3.6GHz easily)

  2. Minimum level around nVidia 8600. I bought one made by ASUS (en8600) and it 's fine unless you put 'antialiasing' up to the max - my monitor is 1440x900.

If money is tight, I would say just buy a box and no graphics card until you can save a few extra bucks for what you want. Stick to 1GB Ram for now, upgrade later (DON"T get vista, 1GB will not manage it, and it's no good - go with XP and then install Ubuntu as a dual boot for virus free internet).

  3. lol well to really answer your question better, you need to specify the exact kind of graphics card that you currently own, because of some compatibility issues, the graphics card may not fit in a lot of desktops, try to look it up online at the manufacturers website. btw i also played dota, but that was back in the day :) mm my fav was anti-mage XD
