Help I am going to the Uk?

I was wonder what requirements are there to go to the Uk. I am just visiting. Thank you. and I live in the U.s.

As a US citizen you only need a valid passport and a return airline ticket. When you get to immigration in UK you will be asked how long you intend to stay and where you will be staying. They want to make sure you're not there to "bum around" (that you can support yourself) and will have definite plans to return to the US. If they have ANY doubts about you they will ask for a contact in UK to vouch for you. They are just trying to make sure you don't stay illegally.
