I then continued my application and got an interview with company B on Tuesday for a part time position. Company B was quick in their decision and gave me a job offer which I accepted right away... the very next day company A called and gave me a job offer which I also accepted right away not thinking about the conflict in schedule. What do i do? Can i still withdraw my acceptance of co.B's offer? I did sign some paperwork... and with co.A i only accepted it by phone. honestly i like both companies but I need a full time position more than a part time position... it says on co.B's Job offer that there is no contract and the employment is "at will"

  1. Such conflicts often occur when the applicant has more than 1 preference for work availability (full time too and part time too) . if you are applying for full time job in 1 company, then apply for full time in other too.

If an employee applies full time in one, and part time in two then this can often be the result.   For this reason alone, whenever I apply for work I only click the FT option.  I never even touch the PT option because i know it that this is a common problem.

If you say you're willing to work FT, then FT is your preference only. PT is generally for those, who cannot afford to work FT.

  2. You should be able to call up company B and tell them you were offered a similar job at full time status for another company and for financial reasons you really need to take that job.  This is something any employer should understand.  They may offer to work around your full time schedule or they may just wish you well.  Honestly the worst thing that can happen is company B trying to make you feel guilty for leaving, which is very unprofessional and you should be glad you won't be working for them if that is what happens.

  3. I believe you answered your own question.  You said, "...I need a full time position...".  You have only one offer for a full time position.  I would call the part time company and inform them that although you like their offer for financial reasons you must decline the offer.
