Where can I find some good old fashion plaster. Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, True value...Nope nope nope They don't carry it. Or have they renamed it to a specific type of joint compound. I'm looking for the same type that was original with the wood lath and plaster base and finish coat

  1. are you in las vegas?   Lowes has it.  It isnt by the drywall and drywall mud.  It is by the paint section.  one isle over by the cleaning supplies.  50 lb bags I believe.

  2. Try a commercial building supply warehouse that specializes in bricklayers supplies.  Or, depending on the texture you are trying to get, check with a Sherman Williams paint store.  They have "Mud Gun's with an air compressor" that you can rent.  The mud gun has a hopper (container) that gravity feeds and the compressor allows you to "splat" it on the wall.  You can use joint compound, etc.  The thicker your consistency the chunkier your "Blops" will be.  For finer "splatting" just stir in more water.  If you want you can add sand/grit into the mix.  Also, you can just let the chunks dry as the are or wait until its almost dry and use a trowel to "knock down" or flatten the tops of the pattern.

  3. Plastering walls is a regional thing in the US. You mainly find it in New England over to the Midwest (around Indiana). Elsewhere you will predominately find sheet rock. For what you want, I believe you'll need to contact a professional.
