Help! I can't rid the spam from my fax machine?

I live in Grand Rapids MI and my fax machine is continuing to recieve spam mail all day long. Is there a number I can call or anything I can do to stop this from happening??

The fax must be advertising something and that should include contact information or at least a company name.  Contact that company and let them know you don't appreciate their method of advertising.  That's a good place to start.  

To my knowledge, sending spam over a fax machine is illegal.  Check with your state Attorney General office for the laws for your particular state.  

I remember when this law was created.  The junk fax'ers all faxed the government to try to stop the law being enacted.  All the unsolicited faxes just ensured passage of the law as the machines ran out of paper and the phone lines were so busy ligitimate faxes couldn't get through.  

The web site below should be of help to you as well.  And making sure all of your phone numbers are on the do-not-call list might help.

Try Registering your fax number with the national do not call registry.  That may help a little.  You can google it to find the web address.  Also if you're not expecting a fax probably keep it turned off or unplugged.  The spam you're getting is probably from autodilars trolling for fax numbers.

Unless they have a phone number on the fax, your kinda stuck. I get these at work all the time. I hate those things, especially when there is no contact info so you have no recourse. If they do have a phone or fax number, get in contact with them and tell them to remove you from their list. Put the fax number on the "do not call list", it might help reduce the amount you receive.

It would have been great if we had the exact model of your fax. Check manual. And check if it has call blocking features. You can have that no blocked. Unless it keeps coming from different nos. And for the meantime don't set it to auto answer.
