Question:

Help! I can't tune my violin?

The strings just get loose and the twisty thing just untwists :( Help!

  1. Okay, is the sting on the violin? If it is and you are merely having trouble  tuning it, when you turn the peg push it into the violin. Imagine its a cork and you are trying to get it into a bottle.  Your pegs are probably just a little loose.

    If that doesn't work, take it to your local shop. They can either replace your pegs add grease to help them move more easily. I've played for 15 years. This should help.  


  2. Try taking off 1 string.  Put a liberal amount of chalk on the peg.  Put the string back on and make sure it does not lay at an angle in the peg box. Wrap the string toward the edge of the box.

    Do each of the strings one at a time.

  3. My boyfriend is a professional violinist. When he's done in the shower I'll see if he can come help ya out.
