Ok about a month ago somehow a ShopperReports program was installed into our computer. We think our kids may have clicked on something while playing a game? It is one that splits the screen and a 1/4 size window appears on the left hand side that gives shopping suggestions based on what ever is one my current web page. On their help web page it says it is easy to uninstall the program under -my computer -uninstall programs, but ive looked and the program is not listed their, not even under a different name. I emailed the help support people with ShopperReports and they sent me back this:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your mail.

ShopperReports is a user friendly program, and it is of paramount importance to us that our program will function properly and will be easily installed and removed.

As a common practice among online companies, ShopperReports can be easily removed from your computer via "Add\Remove programs" (Start -> Control Panel -> Add\Remove programs).

If you can't see ShopperReports components under the "Add\Remove Programs" list or if you are experiencing problems removing, it is likely that parts of ShopperReports were already uninstalled from your computer.

You may use our uninstaller to remove ShopperReports:

1. Click the following link: http://www.shopperreports.com/Help/uninstaller.exe

2. Click Run and follow on-screen instructions

3. Restart your computer.

This will completely remove ShopperReports from your computer.

If you have additional questions do not hesitate to contact us again.

Have a nice day.

I am a little scared to run the suggested program because I have no clue who they are or what it may do to my computer? Does anyone know any thing about them or have any advice on what I can do? Thanks

  1. ccleaner has an uninstaller that can remove programs without an uninstaller.

  2. Have the people at btexpress look at your computer. The site is btexpress.page.t and it has great deals. See for yourself

  3. it might be a virus have you tried running a virus scan?

  4. One of the best resources I have found is at TrendMicro.com    They are the manufacturers of an anti-spyware program called PC-cillin.  If you go to this website they will actually scan and clean your computer for free.  Just look for the icon that says "house call" and follow the directions until it starts to scan.  Depending on how much stuff you have on your computer, the scan can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.  I have about 20 gigabytes of information on my hard drive and it takes about an hour and a half.

When it's done, it will show you all of the viruses, worms, trojans and adware on your computer.  At that point, you can choose to clean it, again, all for free.  My guess is that your problem is an Adware problem.  Beyond this, they will also list your computer's vulnerabilities, such as you have an out-of-date virus scanner or you don't have a firewall.  in the end, It'll take some time, but it's worth it.

  6. Firstly, shopper reports are BAD news. Secondly, it is easier and safer to use RevoUninstaller:

    http://www.download.com/Revo-Uninstaller...

It's faster and better than add / remove applet.

When you run it highlight the item then select uninstall in next window select Advanced and click Next, follow prompts when uninstalled it will scan registry and drive for leftover files / folders, tick ONLY the bold items and follow prompts.

    Then use:

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Removes Antivirus:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

    Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

ALL of these programs are free.

    EDIT:

do NOT click the 1001 answers link....it will take you to Antivirus 2008 and I am sick of finding these idiots cropping up with this garbage.....duly reported as abuse. Any other wishing to report it please do so, as more notice will be taken to get rid of these morons.

  7. You need to do several things to ensure that it is totally gone. You are on the right track in using Add/Remove programs first.

Next, download this tool.  You will use it again the the future guaranteed.  :)

There are many programs that are so cleverly coded that you have difficulty removing them, even going through Add & Remove Programs...

Here is a handy little tool that is FREE

    download   and follow the instructions

and those nuisance programs will be removed on reboot.

    Use Program:

    REMOVE ON BOOT SHELL EXTENSION

    Go to:

    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/removereboo...

Scroll down to: (and click it to download)

Remove on Reboot Shell Extension - Free

    1.  Download it

    2. To remove program >Right click on your program folder that you want removed

    3.  Left click sub-menu option: REMOVE ON REBOOT

    4.  Then reboot your pc

I've had lots of great luck with this little program. I think you'll like it too.

    ====================

Note:  To get to a program FOLDER (not just the shortcut icon) >

    a.  RIGHT click START > select Explore >

    b.   then in the Explore window, left panel >

    c.  scroll down to Programs >

    d.  then in Programs scroll down to the FOLDER that has the program you want to remove

    OR

    e.  Do a "search" for the offender using your explore search engine.  Look for the culprit "applicaton".

f...then do the right click "remove on reboot" selection >

    g.  Restart your computer

    ^j^

  8. they are trying to scam you , you should run an antivirus scan with Avira AntiVir (highly recommended and used by experts) and an anti spyware scan with Ad Aware (also recommended and used by experts) , and if you dont know ShopperReports just ignore the e-mail and delete it .

If you need to uninstall a software and cannot remove it with add/or/remove programs you should install Revo Uninstaller

  9. You should be okay.   Just go into Add/Remove programs like they said, scroll down the list to find it, and click "Uninstall."  It will uninstall most likely using that link the company provided in your email.

It happens all the time with adware.

After you uninstall it, reboot the computer, and then run a virus/adware check to make sure everything else is clean.

  10. You have two options, use their program, or have a tech friend come and check it out and get rid of it for you.. if you don't have a tech friend close to where you live, but, have a friend online, whom you trust, you can get them to chat with you on windows live messenger and do a remote assistance request..  then they will control your computer to remove that program..
